I've been surfing this site for about a month and finally decided to take the time to join. BOTF was a great game when it first came out and I've been playing it off and on since then -- in spite of it's limitatons. I was thrilled to find this site and see how close you really are to getting this done.
It's very, very impressive to see the vast amount of time y'all have put into this. The depth of details for this game is truely amazing. You are to be commended.
Keep up the good work. I'll be watching ... BRUHAHAHAHA!

Oh don't worry...I'm watching too...
Coz don't think my operatives didn't know you were out there...they did...
Anyways, welcome to the site, northtexan95.
As you are no doubt aware from your spy activities, (Commendable, but you should never reveal your true actions or intentions. With training, you would make an excellent operative! ) the game is 85-90% done, so it won't be long now.
We're certainly looking at months - not years at least. 8O
Since you have spied the site, you have likely read what is being discussed at the moment. Like I always say, if you have something to say, then say it! We need ideas, people!
So happy posting.

Howdy there! I found the site a few days ago and thought this was as good a time as any to register.
I'm a huge fan of the game. I recently started to replay it. I know I shouldn't have because I have my first year law exams right now but it was too tempting once I started thinking about the game :p
Like northtexan95 I think the project is awesome ^.^ The fans building the game is ambitious but it looks like the skills and the ideas are there to make it a huge success. Can't wait to play it.

Hey there to the both of you as well.
The TWAAO thread (Things We All Agree On) has info about stuff that has been decided on, or will be in the game.
It's a pretty hefty read - and it is totally out of date due to a problem earlier on in the year.
It is going to be updated as soon as is possible, but if you fancy having a go, then it's still worth a read. (I sympathise with you Scotty - just finished a load of exams myself - 3 month holiday woo hoo!) Of course, you will concentrate on your exams, now that you know this site exists, because 'real' life is far more important... ()
Examples of some of the things that have been decided on since the thread was last updated would be:
1) The Prometheus WILL have Multi-Vector Assault Mode! 8O
2) The System-Wide Dome Construction Project will be in the game. (To make Moons habitable [Yes, they will be in the game this time!] and to allow you to 'harvest' Asteroids for resources)
3) Hospital ships will be included in the game - these will help with disasters, like Volcanoes, Plagues, and Earthquakes.
4) We have decided most of the bonus structures the minor races will be able to build. (We're working in alphabetical order and have got up to 'M')
5) Unlike I have said in other recent posts, when the game is released, it will likely come with the full 3D combat mode (As in BOTF) and NOT the 2D combat mode that the programmers were planning on having until the game is finished.
6) We are now looking at having practically every ship that has ever appeared on Star Trek in the game. I know this will be true of the Federation at least, (Except possibly the 'future' ships, like the Enterprise-J) but I don't know about the other major empires. There will however, also be 'extra' ships, to fill in any gaps in the various eras, or some ships will have different uses, such as the Conestoga class, from the Enterprise era. These changes are to make the game more playable, although where possible, the official game will be kept as canon as possible.
7) Iwulff has been making a Database for some time now. This will be the official help system of the game. If you want, you can download the beta version from the downloads section of this site. The download is old now, and he has made many changes to it. He will likely update the download sometime soon.
These are the changes that I can think of at the moment, although there are likely far more of them.
Anyways, happy posting you guys.

*laughs* Thanks for the summary.
It's sad that I already knew a lot of that from reading the site so much in the last few days The TWAAO thread was a fun read. Glad you got your hospital ship idea in, I like it.
"Of course, you will concentrate on your exams, now that you know this site exists, because 'real' life is far more important..."
Real Life.... sounds good, where do I sign up for that?
Nah last exam tomorrow, then I'll be free until October! ^.^

Lucky thing!
I have to enrol for my second year on September the 26th...I actually start uni about two weeks after that though...
...
Wasn't sure how much of that stuff you did know, so I thought i'd do a summary. It'll probably help stdan and northtexan95 at least.

Hey, y'all hijacked my thread! This was supposed to be about ME joining the site! j/k Glad to see I brought a couple of others outta the woodwork.
Matress ... thanks for the update. Most of that I had concluded from reading through the threads but it's always good to have it in one spot.

AGGGGGG!!!
I'm an old fart! Started my Uni and stopped it back in the 80's!
LOL I found that a real job verses a overgrown high school with ash trays, actualy helped to feed me! lol No Offence. Wished now I had finished Uni way back then. (stupid me) but Onward and upward! Welcome all 3 new posters! This is about the end of my first week or second now? Not sure!
Should you come across any of my posts, reguard them as mindless ramblings of a true madman! lol.

Oh, he's telling truth all right...muttered ramblings of an insane man there...
Of course, even the insane have a purpose in the eyes of the Tal Shiar...nothing has no purpose or meaning. We see all, we hear all, we use all.
So you finished uni in the 80's? You must be almost as old as Rigel then...
...
14 exams Xir_? Man, I feel sorry for you...and I thought 5 was bad enough! 8O

Can sorta sympathise there - one of my own exams was chemistry (It was actually an AS-level paper as far as i'm concerned - no offense, but it was far easier than I was expecting - I did A-level chemistry...didn't do very well, but I did it...)
Of course, the fact that I found it easy could be a bad omen... 8O

One word: BLAG
Blind 'em with science, or baffle 'em with bull. That's the way to do it!
Of course, if you actually need to pass...well there's only one thing to do - and no, i'm not gonna mention it, coz i'm on my holidays, and don't want to spoil them now!

So I stop coming around the site for a little while, and I come back, and the first thread I read, moe is badmouthing me. ... I've only been at college for 4 1/2 years, with another to go. At least its better than the couple of guys I know who are working through their seven year plan right now.

You resemble the comment...?
Oh, the things I could say about this right now. I'm not going to though, I respect the ancient.
(The word you're looking for is resent)
...
Good to hear that you're back, Iwulff! Still no sign of SOM though. He must be making sure every one of those Jem'Hadar are well and truly spiritually slaughtered.
Are you going to start updating the TWAAO thread soon? A couple of the new people have been asking about it.
Do you know how Gavin is? I know he's busy with the game, but I sent him a PM with a few questions about how the random events would be handled.
He hasn't responded yet though. Ftranschel also sent him a PM offering to help with the programming and stuff, but Gavin hasn't replied to that either.
...
Rigel, I thought you were in your forties? No offense, but that is a leeetle bit older than me...
If it isn't you, then I know someone on the site is, I somehow thought it was you though. Sorry about that.
