*News Flash!*
A new varient of the DF disease has come to light. The new strain, which is known as ddoouubbllee vviissiioonn DF has had a limited spread, but is on the increase. Doctors warn that a cure is likely to take a lifetime to create, so people should wait and see for the results.

You may have that iwulff, but I think we ALL have GCWWFTFDTM -
Going Crazy Whilst Waiting For The Flash Database To Materialise!
At least I have something to relieve the symptoms...namely version 1.02...
Thanks for that iwulff, but the symptoms are getting worse again! Have you got anything stronger? (Like version 1.04)

Bad news guys, I've just been diagnosed with canonitus. To cut a long story short I was out on a night out last week with the young lady, enjoying the peace and quiet of a chilled out winebar, when I happened to overhear a bloke say the following to his friend... "The Defiant is capable of warp 9.995". Suffice to say I wasn't pleased. All I could think of was "The Sound Of Her Voice", O'Brien clearly said the ship couldn't go above warp 9 without sustaining damage.
Compelled by rage and fury I beat him down with a bar stool, then violently beat his friend for nodding in agreement. I spent that night alone in the cells, contemplating my fate. The next day these Doctors came in saying they were going to run a few tests, of course I agreed, I needed to know what was wrong. They put me behind a glass screen and slid a booklet through the gap under the door, they asked me to read the book, whilst electrodes monitored my heart rate and brain patterns. The first picture was of the USS Voyager, I smiled due to the familiar nature of the design, and reminisced about "The Year Of Hell Part 1". Underneath were some schematics, layout, capabilities, history etc. As I read on I found myself relaxed by the whole experience, until I noticed a slight problem.
Maximum warp speed 6.4? Multispacial Disruptors? Crew Compliment 1058?!!! In a haze of anger I ate the book and lunged at the protective screen. NON CANON I screamed constantly, the guards merely looked on blanky. That night I attempted to hang myself, but thought of friends and family, my DS9 DVD collection back home, and my replica Bat'Leth.
I'm now on a very heavy dose of morphine, and I'm undergoing hypnotherapy regularly. I'm constantly told that Star Trek isn't real, something which is clearly ridiculous, or is it... They tell my the size of the Defiant depends on who's doing the special effects, that the Klingon language was created by a 20th century human! I'm starting now to come to terms with my affliction, I now merely grimace and walk away when someone refers to the Akira firing Quantums torpedoes. I may at last be on my road to recovery.
My therapist tells me it's good to talk about these things, which is why I'm revealing all to you, my friends. Without the guidance of such rich characters as Mattress Of Evil, I wouldn't be where I am now.
Ps- To the family of William, who unfortunately did not pull through. Your son was no doubt a pillar of the communuty, but he should have watched more closely. William, I have the following words my friend;
"Warp 9 normally, but if the phaser reserve is drained, warp 9.5 is possible"

i knew i had a problem when i signed a non-aggression pact with my brother back in 99, the dining room accords have ensured a measure of peace within the galaxy. This has lead on to the subsequent air-space treaty, prohibing farts within the soveriegn and mutually recognised territories of the 2 powers. i will honour the alliance, so long as he acts with honour...

All was well and fine with me other then a simple case of PBCC = Pretorin Battle Crusier complex. The complete first strike of every planet in the known Universe led by my own Legendary Battle crusier.
Then I picked up a rare ferengi illness causing my blood pressure to rise to a dangerious level,(Possable sudden death heart attack) my right rib cage has a neurological disorder, my spine is descentagrating, and to top it off I have a stomach of boiling acid. Thusly I got my butt kicked big time!
Now My Isp is acting like a cardiassian throwing a tantrun cause they lost Bajor to the Federation.
also CTSD= Cloak and tal shir desease. use a diplomat to negociate a peace treaty, while my Tal are emptying the coffers.
Not to mention S T F T D S = Stomping the ferengi to dirt syndrom. Explains itself.
But I feel good, really!

This one is the most serious one yet - I am currently suffering from E.A.O. - Explosive Anticipation Overload!
This particular disease will become increasingly common among the site's members, as the game gets closer to it's release. However, other causes can triger the onset.
My current case was caused by Fireball stating that he is currently modeling one of his best ships yet - but failed to mention what ship that is!
WARNING! WARNING! Do not approach the sufferer without fire-resistant clothing, but preferably don't even try!
This message will self-destruct long after I have.

D.B.E.S. (Data Breakpoint Error Syndrome) it is where botf1 decides it is finished playing even though you are not. Usually occurs when you are about to go into combat and you have around 3 fleets in that sector and the game drops to the desktop. This normally has side effects of (I.F.T.S.D.)
I.F.T.S.D. (I Forgot to Save Disorder) this is a disorder to where you forgot to save the game for 15 to 20 turns. Only know cure is auto-save which never worked for botf1.
I as well carry some of the same popular Federations illnesses that are mentioned in this thread.

BOTF has never crashed with you TrekBoy? Consider yourself lucky. Back when I used to play BOTF alot, a more appropriate name would have been Crash of the Federation.

A new aflection... B T O F B. birth of the Federation blues. This happens after you finally get a real job after being off work for 6 months. Walk into new job, sit at computer, then spend 45 minutes trying to find my BOTF link on my desktop and doing a full search in the system files.
GCWMMBBNTICT = Game crashing while in the middle of a major battle where both sides are balanced and the next turn Is the critical turn. Effects are total lockdown of your computer, with the afflected madly scrambling to restart thier system, pull botf back up and moving the mouse at warp 9.997
speed to the continue button, only to find that you had not save the game for 45 turns, and it takes you so far back, you cannot remember what steps you took to get to where you once were.... Thus LOST FOREVER>>

I wondered what the actual cause of that scream was...
I didn't need my operatives to hear that one...
...
This is one of the most serious problems i've ever had, as it can potentially have multiple fatal results, as well as a loss of voice. What makes it worse is that the onset could have caused the fatal results before I even got hold of BOTF2...
DINTRMCTFSGGMSHSSNICAIWHIASOAD
(Damn I Need To Reset My Computer To Factory Settings Good God My Stuff Has Somehow Saved No I Can't Access It Woo Hoo It's All Saved On A Disk)
Caused by a critical overload of Spyware, Adware, Viruses, and Sisters, the effects are a need to reset a computer to factory settings. It's only afterwards that the true meaning of this is realised, as one tries desperately to retrieve the valuble mods to BOTF.
(It is at this very moment that the first cases of fatality may occur.)
You then discover that all your valuble mods are saved in a special little folder that the computer made for you, and the effects of this disease begin to wear off. However, when you realise the computer will not let you access this file, the disease comes back with a vengence.
(This is the moment where the second fatality occurs)
Only when all seems lost, and it has come to the final hour, does the cure expose itself to the needs of the afflicted: a CD appears that you made only two weeks earlier with all your BOTF mods and other important stuff on it.
(This is where you lose your voice from screaming)

Another new one,
TWSIBSTDCADGORNNPNYIRIIMBRNAFC
The Wife says, I been spending too much time on the damn computer, and if I dont get off right now, there will be no "playtime" for me for the next year, and I reply, but honey I'm in a major battle right now against the ferengi and Cardiassions.
It is a delecate balance... BOTF or Hmmmmmm.. BOTF or hmmmm
choices choices choices.... Well I know sleeping outside in the cold snow is not too much fun...

Good point TrekBoyChris!
I suffer repeatedly from Galoric Syndrome.
Symptoms are an increasingly addictive sense of elation as my fleet of Galors rampage and pillage through Romulan space. Severe cases may result in therapy and perhaps even hospitalisation.
