Sorry. Either that question was too evil or this is pretty much dead.
Anyway, the answers were:
A. Data was supposed to play a Mozart string quartet. He even offered to play it in several styles to suit Sarek's taste. You'd suppose with that level of knowledge, he'd be able to play the right piece, especially since the four performers should kinda limit the performance to, you know, string quartets?
Which brings us to why Sarek really cried:
B. Not only were the actors shamelessly (and poorly) trying to synch with the real recording, it wasn't even a string quartet, and it certainly wasn't Mozart!!!! The piece was a Brahms SEXTET (so either they play on super instruments that miraculously add a second viola and cello, or there is something horribly wrong with this scene). Given the general state of detail in TNG, I would gravitate towards the latter. Clearly, the pure idiocy -- and illogicality -- of the moment is what moved Sarek to tears (although the music the played is truly incredible).
I just always thought that the scene was funny, especially as a musician.
If someone would like to start a new question, I think it would be fun to continue....

Ok, herees a few Romulan based questions.
1. What is Romulus' capital city?
2. What do the Romulans call their planet?
With so many Romualn enthusiasts out there, I figure somebody knows the answer.

Well, I believe you're correct. I know Ki Baratan is correct, and I'm also know I have seen ch'Rihan before as the name for Romulus, but I've also heard of something along the lines of 'Ehriv'fvil' (spelling is probably way off, but thats what I remember it sounding like).
Has anybody else ever heard of that, or am I just going crazy?
Since Jarok didnt ask another evil question , I'll try to keep the ball rolling. What was the name of the Romulan senator who was working with the Remans at the begining of Nemesis? And on that same note, who was the Romulan commander who came to Ent-E's aid in the same movie?

Senator Tallora or some such spelling, was working with Shinzon in his coup effort.
Commander Donatra and an associate were Romulan military officers who originally supported Shinzon but for whatever reason turned and supported the Enterprise-E.
Have you read any of the new 'Star Trek: Titan' series? It basically picks up right where Nemesis left off, following Riker and the crew of the Titan on a mission to Romulus. We get to see all of the fun people again.....
In ST:Generations, which starship, according to Data, was forced to make a 'minor course correction' after the destruction of the first star? Bonus to whoever knows some of the history of the ship in question...

it was the bozeman, a soyuz class destroyer that kept trying to ram the enterprise in a time loop.. it got recommisioned obviously and in 2373 it participated in the defence of the typhon sector against the Borg, mentioned in the comm chatter b4 picard decided to race off and open a can.
i wonder if kelsey grammer was still commanding? maybe he`s part of the collective now...
k Question time
In ds9 'tacking into the wind' Kira and her motly cardassian terrorists board a repair station to steal a breen energy dampening weapon, when they board there is something distinctly wrong about the scenery, a certain picture that quite frankly belongs somewhere else... any ideas?
also bonus to anyone who can identify the actor in that sequence who has appeared in several voyager episodes, identify the actor and the episodes

Well mark, I think you've stumped us. I atleast admit defeat, what was it? If you want to wait about 3-4 weeks, I'll probably be able to answer that question, because Spike TVs syndacation of DS9 should be at that episode about then. And thanks to that miraculous device called Tivo, I havent missed an episode in awhile.
Well, heres a new question. In the ds9 episode that dealt the 'The Reckoning' (the battle between a Prophet and a Pah Wraith) what is the name of the Pah Wraith that inhabits Jake's body?

it was kossat amogen, i didnt google it i just watched the episode not too long ago as well...
i remember because it sounds like kostamogen, which bajorans are always saying in relation to the wraiths
anywhos i`ll stick up 2 new questions but my old one still stands
Q. What was the population of Gaia when the defiant went through the energy field and met their descendants in the episode children of time
Q2. How long ago (counting from ds9 era) did the cardassian government get thrown over by the military and begin its brutal campaign of subjagation and strip mining, thus ending the spiritual side of the cardassian people?
good luck fellas
(p.s my previous Q requires scrutinus viewing to catch it, i only noticed the fault by pure chance, so google wont help)

Haven't seen the episode for Q1, but I'd thought that the Cardassian military took over around 500 years before DS9.....guesstimate

But not close enough for Cardassian government work! They probably have a running chronometer in one of their prisons for political prisoners as a form of torture 8O

You read any of those stories?

Yeah, the books are a bit drier and sarcastic. They are just pretty fun to read. The movie was pretty true to it, though, so if you liked it, the books might just be for you!
Yeah, I think they were originally supposed to be radio short stories. Then when it was realized that people actually liked them, they were re-published in convenient book form. There are a couple of collections of the entire set, which is what I'm up to now. (on to the last one!!!) 8O

Hitchhiker was actually broadcast on the radio.
Can you remember the 'head' that appeared when they got to the planet Magrathea? Well that actor was either the guy who played Authur in the radio shows, or was the guy who played Authur in the TV shows (Not sure which way round it is, but he definitely played Authur)
They cast him in the films especially to pay homage to the Radio/TV version. In fact, even the music is pretty much the same as on the TV shows...
I definitely would recommend reading the rest of the books though, Mark. It's great how the smallest, most insignificant comment in one book can make a huge difference in the next one. You should also look out for how the description of the Vogon homeworld changes from the first book...
It's a real shame that the writer died before he completed the sixth book (Of the trilogy)

Well enough about good ol hitchiker's, this thread is called BOTF Jeopardy after all. Ill try to keep the ball rolling, but it's hard to come up with questions that I know you guys wont know right away, but here goes.
In the TNG episode The Chase (the episode with 'the secret of life'). At the end, the holographc projection of the alien is played by someone who will recieve an important guest role in a later ST series. Who is it? (I dont really care about their real name, I'm more looking for the role the person eventually played.
No google! ...

What about the Voyager episode where they were <technically> in it?
Some alien race took over the ship and covered it with holographic projectors or something, then made the crew fight each other as WW2 characters.
I missed the first half of it though, and I last saw it when it was on telly (Several years ago) so I couldn't tell you anything more about it.

Don't know episodes, but if this jump-starts anyone:
I know of two for certain:
1. TOS episode where they time travel and screw up history such that the Nazis win WWII
2. ENT episode
3. VOY mentionings, but not sure.

Ok.
1. Thres the TOS episode where they go to 'Nazi' planet.
2. Theres the TOS episode where they mess up, and let the Nazis win.
3.Theres the 2 VOY episodes where the Hirogen take over VOY, and turn her holodeck into WW2.
4. The 2 ENT episodes at the begining of season 4, where they wind up back in time, where the aliens have helped the Nazis invade America.
ARe we missing any more?

Indeed, was possibly the worst TNG episode ever made. I mention it because it was on Sky One yesterday, couldn't help but watch! I think it was called "shades of grey".
Can anyone name the Star Trek characters that James Cromwell (Zefram Cochrane) played throughout the series? (DS9 and TNG)?

He also played a member of some Gamma quad race (cant remember their name though). I dont remember much of the epsode, except that he and Quark were trying (unsuccesfully) to come to a business deal in the Defiant, when she came under attack from Jem Hadar. They got left alone in their room, and sometime during the fight a undetonated torpedo broke into their room.... something like that.
