I'm working on a new mod which sees the Federation replaced with the Terran Empire. I started the hex editing a while back but have just resumed the rest of everything that has to be done, and there's a lot when changing an empire is concerned. There's also a lot of art/graphics and buttons to change, basically everything that involves or mentions Starfleet or the Federation. Then there's cursors, structures, ships, minor race attitudes, and all the rest.
But, it is coming, and it will be entering testing stage soon. I reckon it could be fun playing as the tyranical Terrans.

If it's BOTF 1, I could help you Dafedz. I've got a couple of editors that i've downloaded from various places.
Obviously i've got the Building and ship editors, but i've also got DCER's Minor race attitude, and Morale editors.
If it's for BOTF, let me know if you need help.

Thanks for the for the offer Matress, just about all the hex editing's done (and I prefer to do it manually than use editing progs, useful as they are.) The exception is the ship stats, in which BOTFed prog is a godsend, but most of those will be a direct copy of UM2, most of it is, with all the new races and such.
The editing of structures and values, morale etc is easy and quick to do even with a simple hex editor. The laborious stuff is ploughing through the hundreds of lines of dialog which needs to be changed. Every single 'liberal' Federation eventuality, message, reaction etc, must be rewritten in the voice of the Terran Empire, and the morale/sympathy result adjusted etc. It took me a few hours to edit the lexicon file, and half a day, about 10 hours just to do the single hdiplomt.tdb file, and I havent even started on the Intel files, and there's several of those. All the artwork's done though.
Just debugging a few things currently. Strangely (as I've found) there seems to be no way to change morale for declaring war on a minor, only an empire. So it would seem that when the terrans declare war against a minor race (which they'll do a lot of) morale will suffer, which is contrary to the concept really. But morale will recover when they start bombarding and invading them though...
The one entry and mention of the 'Federation' which can't be changed is in the race list in the Diplomacy screen. It's hard coded and has to stay.

I would have thought it would come under the generic declare war option. (In DCER's editor)
And since Jig has done it, it must be possible.

Indeed it must be. Tell all oh pink one, which other files did you change? One file I cahnged that did crash it, was the Races file, I changed Federation to Terrans, and it crashed. I had thought that that entry of 'Federation' was the one responsible for the race list in Diplomacy.

That's to declare war on an Empire, and that has been changed without a problem.

change also the lexicon.dic the racedesc.rst the hdiplomat.tdb the inttext0.tdb the inttext2.tdb and i think the race.rst, would you like my heidiki scout for this mod, i converted it yesterday.

Nah I don't think I want Peregrines in, they're fighters, and too small for the graphics engine to work with really, at about 20m they'd hardly even be visible. Besides, the game doesn't cater for any ship type other than Scout, Cruiser, Destroyer, Strike Cruiser, Command, (and the non-combatants).
I changed all the files you mentioned Jig, but alterations to race.rst crashed it. Yeh by all means send the Hideki over, cheers. Is it scaled right?

scaled her perfectly, just a tad bigger than a destroyer, i`ll do the files for you, also send me the opening credits or the clip of the terren empire symbol as i can`t find it any were, i mean in mpg or similer btw so it`sd easy to do a new cursor.

I think your idea for a mirror mirror mod is brilliant,I woz reading on another thread about cloaking and someone mentioned something about the terran empire so I woz wondering if they are gonna be able to develop cloaking technology later on in the game.It seems like something they'd do as the mighty terran empire wouldn't be bound by any stupid treaty of algaron or wot ever its called.
Jiglypuff..do those models work in BotfI?They look really kewl.

BTW I'm back from holiday.
Very nice work on the Hideki and NX Jig, I'll definitely be interested in using those in MMM, cheers.
As long as the phasers don't work I don't envision an Ultimate Mod 3, although there will be updates to UM2 regarding a few bugs that I'd like to address and iron out...
