Tell me... What tech is the Romulans primary advantage?
Think about their essentially visual cloaking while the Federation has developed visual and matter cloaking that can allow its ships to pass through solid objects. They just don't use them because of their treaty with the Romulans.

Fox,
I'm not sure if they havbe any one type of tech to use as an advantage.
but then I'm not fully enveloped into the whole trek life any longer.
However My guess would be thier intel and weapons systems. As the ships are not that large but built heavy, that what I think it is.. I'm most likly wrong... but then thats okay too! Always open to relearn things.
I have started 4 Fed games. I'm playing the 4th right now. My first 3, as Feds I was wiped out by Ferengi, Romulans, then klingons. All my own fault though, I have this aversion to making affiliation treaties. Even when I played as klingons I just could not do it.
AS Rom I try to stay in my area of the Quad leaving Feds and Klingons alone . I do however go after Ferengi and Cardi's..
I can say I'm somewhat impressed with a few of the Fed ships. However as far as being manuverable I must question that.. That I have used thusfar only one ship for the Feds can actually do any real movement but I find it slow... (Dreadnaught) and also the Heavy Battle Crusier type you all have.
But I will continue to play. I'm actually in a game that I have gone past 100 turns on... as the Feds that is.... but remember I am not modded. just the same ole normal game...

You could always edit their ships and mke them as strong as say...an Oberth...
Where's the fun in that though?
(Other than destroying them)

Another suggestion... When you get the chance focus all shipyards on Galaxy-xs when they become available. They are a good compliment to Defiants. Just don't forget to use scout ships in your groups to buy you some preparation time before battle.

Feds Rule????
hmmmm.. thus far playng as Fed. I made it to turn 176. then got my butt wiped off the map by a Romulan invasion. bad thing was we were in alliance and our ratings were very very high.. Just up and turned on me as I was in a battle with Cardi's, whom attacked an outpost without reason or notice...
So I have to Start Fed game # 7.... So far... I'm not impressed playing as the Federation. Seems my Feds for some reason are weak even when I have more intel, ships systems ect... Very odd...

lol, you know what, the Romulans are not that bad.
I just used their fleet to conquer 5 systems. Totaling about 50 orbital batteries.
I just had my 6 troop transporters follow their fleet and after the Roms destroyed the OBs I invaded the system Took Qo'Nos, Ferenginar (siezed by Klingons earlier) and 3 more systems.
The Roms lost 5 Warbirds and more destroyers then I can count.
The Federation lost 5 troop transports and got 5 systems
Gotta love the Romulans. (They're my allies in this game btw )

I've used a similar tactic in the past Sounds to me like you should be playing as the Romulans, though - got the right mind for it :D

I am surpassed a Romulan.
I see it like this:
Romulans, like the Klingons, have a plan to conquer the galaxy.
Unlike the Klingons, they use secrecy and deception to achieve this plan. But still, it's the same plan, and everybody knows it...
The Federation, like the Romulans and Klingons, also wants to rule the galaxy.
Unlike the Romulans, who make their plan obvious, but keep their tactics a secret, the Federation makes their tactic obvious, but their PLAN a secret...
What's the PLAN you ask, Romulans...? Well, now. Wouldn't you like to know ()
Let me just say, the smiles and diplomacy you see on the outside, hiding behind your cloak, isn't what's on the inside
( )

Reminds me of a discussion between Quark and Ducott (I think it was Ducott) about the Federation.
Quark got Ducott to try some drink called root beer. Ducott responded that it was flat amoung some other things. Qurak then explined how if you had it often enough you grow to like it. Ducott then understood the relation and stated "Just like the Federation!"... Quartk: Exactly.

CVN - you do realise, all we have done is to cloak our lead, just like our ships, so you don't know how big it is?

Well... like I said before, I never watched very much DS9...
Besides... In this episode, the Dominion had been defeated I think and it was the Klingons attacking the Cardassians... Thats what the discussion was about...
Looks like someones inteligence operatives slipped up a bit...

So, the whole Empire may be cloaked as well. Would go a long way to explaining why they have such powerfull () ships and yet so little subjects

The subjects are Cloaked as well.
And yes, our ships are exactly as powerful as you believe...

I'm curious. In Romulan, do "powerful" and "laughable" rhyme?
I ask because you obviously confused the two in your last post
Anyway, Federation flagship captains are protected by the most powerful shield in the Trek galaxy...

Don't worry, we'll find a way through it, even if it means calling in the lawyers... 8O

Only coz they ARE the criminals...

How do we do this? We're talking about random nonsense again!
Of course, it has nothing to with me...

I thought all the lawyers were rounded up and cast into the sun in the late 21st century?

That was only the Federation lawyers. Sev made no mention of Romulan ones.
