Thank you m8
I've learned english at school for eight years and I'm pleased all my bad grades were worth my opinion, that you learn a language by using it (like typing in a forum like this ) rather than just repeating all the words and grammar by hard...

Well typing 226 posts will have certainly made a difference. Wish i'd chosen to learn German instead of Spanish now!
No offence to our Spanish guests of course

Funny, for the last 3 years, I've been thinking the same thing about Spanish. German is hard But, I never liked the way it sounded anyway (no offence to anyone) so I was never really motivated to try and learn it.
ftranschel, sorry if my last post sounded to hostile. I really didn't mean anything against you or Germans

I sorta feel the same about German as well.
In my old school, you could only do it if you were in set one for English AND French. Even then, one of the teachers had to recommend that you take it, before you were actually signed up. (And you had to agree)
I had ulterior motives for taking it though, coz it meant that I missed one less of french a fortnight, and 2 lessons of PE (Out of 3, so I was REALLY happy about this - I HATED sport in school)
I liked German even less though, (The teacher preferred to practice his yoga) so I quit after a year - so did my friends actually...
...
Scatter, I thought the Oberth was supposed to have a not-quite-round saucer?
Is that just me?
I agree a bit about the blurry lines though. You can't quite make the same criticisms about the Uber-Oberth though...

I still can't see how the ship is over 1000 polies. It looks about 500.
Perhaps this can be a regular Oberth ship and you can do another as a refit (for when ppl upgrade ingame) and have it twice as detailed.
Still nice model

I believe that's because noone tries to make it sound smooth (indeed there are beatiful poems by some classic authors), thus certainly every language *could* sound nice. But I really agree german is very difficult for foreigners as it's hard to speak with an english accent[1]. (And not even to speak of the various possibilities of our conditional sentences ^^) CVN-65 wrote: ftranschel, sorry if my last post sounded to hostile. If you want to offend me, just call me a federation player!
Yes I know... this will soon come true and I will play the feds for a certain time
[1] I always have to think of an englishman at the Expo 2000 in Hannover, when I heard him try to say "Kaninchenbaubauanleitung". One of the worst cases in german is surely the interconnection of words

Rinderkennzeichnungs - Was that all one word. It means absolutely nothing to me! Lets hand it over to our resident German - ftranchel!

Actually in german the use of "-" is restricted to two scenarios: The first one is the use as a simple dash to devide some parts of a sentence. The second thing (what we have here) is to *shorten* words by abbreviating them if they have the same appendix. So, without this construction it would have been called
"Rinderkennzeichnungsüberwachungsaufgabenübertragungsgesetz und Rindfleischetikettierungsüberwachungsaufgabenübertragungsgesetz"
which is three words but definetly not easier to handle

Definitely... I was lost at Rinderkennzeichnungs- und Rindfleischetikettierungsüberwachungsaufgabenübertragungsgesetz but Rinderkennzeichnungsüberwachungsaufgabenübertragungsgesetz und Rindfleischetikettierungsüberwachungsaufgabenübertragungsgesetz cleared it up
EDIT: Speaking German should be an Olympic sport

Fancied doing one myself
Weighs in about 1300 polys.
Needs some mesh errors fixing some adjustmends to parts and adding a few more details and will take an hour to do all that later in the day when i resume working on it. lol my mate said he was amazed it was done fromstart to what u see in 2 hours. Thought it was average time for somit like this.
Anyone like it ? Fireball dont worry im not replacing urs lol just was inspired to do my own as I just got back into modeling after not doing it for a very long time. And this was good practice.

Ive finished the model and its come in at 2000 polys. It has some detail more than fireballs but J-Puff said it was fine. J-Puff has the final version, untextured of course and he will find a use for it somewhere he said.

Dont worry m8, I need a break from working on a certain ship (which I wont say )
That and in the end, it will result in a better model, I just fininshed talking it over with jig, he said its alright.
Well if its alright with you, i'll proceed.
Nice model by the way, im sure jig can stick a texture on for ya, or even get it from a cgi one.

why not make one each, skeeter takes the kahn version, fireball takes the sisko version
you never know if you make two really good models the powers that be may decide to include both, the original that changes when you bring a ship in to upgrade
... maybe im just dreaming

If they're both excellent models and if both parties are happy - why not?
