I have been trying to find some more images of a Chimera-Class starship done by Skye Dobbs. the only place I have been able to find some shots of it is here http://www.sttff.net/explorer.html but no other luck. I tried emailing the site master but no response. has anyone seen some of these else where?

try sci-fi meshes.com and actually, i think the author frequents the Millenium CGI forums and I believe his mesh may be in their image archive. I remember when he was building it.

That's a nicely designed ship. It looks like a modernised Miranda/Nebula cross. Cool!

I've done some searching for you, and whilst there is a lot of mentioning of a Chimera class starship, all the designs are (Obviously) fan-made and they are all different.

One thing that confuses me, is the actual name though - are you sure it is the Chimera class?

I ask, because even on the site you have listed, Chimera isn't the name of the class. According to the site, it is actually the Explorer class. You still get the same problem of hundreds of fanboy designs then though...

I pretty sure it a Chimera only cause the site-host gives credit to Skye Dobbs for the design and notes ( a.k.a. as Chimera). They did a very nice job on it and I was wanting to do yet another fan based spin-off stories about yet another Star Trek ship. lolz! Just wanted to get the yeah you can use it from the owner of the art work. the site-host notes all the ships in the class are "NX" so I'm thinking he may have rendered a new name on the hull. Or very confised on what the "NX" is for on a starship.

Valcoren, I did some checking for you and the model has been removed from the site it was created on. I also couldn't track down Skye Dodds (creator of the model). My suggestion would be to contact Chris Adamek (the creator of the site you saw the model on) and he should be able to put you in contact with Skye or at least tell you where to find the model. Chris is a very friendly and helpful guy, I've corresponded with him before.

Scatter is doing fanfics of the USS Illustrious, if you didn't know. He's set up a thread with a link to his site.

Perhaps you could do a similar sort of thing...? He might even help you with it or have some ideas. I'm sure he'd help if you contact him.

You could even make a thread and ask people for ideas. You could make a fanfic for the people, so to speak.

In fact, SonOfMogh has already done something similar, and there are 16 pages of ideas! Here you go:

There are some very good stories on that site and a lot of good info. It takes the Trek Timelines on further than i've seen before. . That explorer reminds me a bit of the Saber

I read some of the fics on the USS Illustrious about 2 days worth I could not put it down. very great read I have to say. I will have the first one finished in about a month as soon as it is finished I'll toss you all a link.
