To make sure this game does well and gets a large community of modders etc, it needs a loyal community. For all the work the developers and designers have done, they owe it to themselves if anything to update news and post screens, videos etc on the main news page.
If it wasnt for the knowledge i have by searching these threads for ages, so i know its such a good game, then i would have given up a long time ago.
Its made too hard to get taken in by this game, we wont ever pull in the numbers in order to do this justice, if news and effort isnt put into the presentation and upkeep of this site. A little effort of accumalating news a few screens shots etc will go along way in keeping people intersted, pulling in new people and getting the magazines interested.
People need to think the people behind the game care if it does well, and care that they want to pull you in. Surely such an epic and adventurous games deserves more news and updates????

It would be good if we can get more of the Trek community aware of it

Carott, I do agree with the sentiment that the news should be a little more up to date. But the developers arent making any profit from the game, so to them, I'm sure gtting a great game going is more inportant then getting the word out. Either way, Gav has given an interview at trek-online.com, and the full version of the game is supposed to be released as the demo/extra disc that comes with PC Gamer. Also many people at the parent site AFC know about the game. Dont worry it already has quite a big fan base just waiting to get their hands on it. And once its released, it will most likely just grow from there.

I was browsing through the startrek.com forums and noticed a thread asking about a BoTF sequel. The people who responded were aware of this project but, looking at the home page, had said that development seemed to have stopped and the whole thing collapsed - I corrected them of course
I can understand not going out advertising like a commercial game, but it would be nice to at least see an up-to-date progress statement on the main page so when people do stumble accross it, they don't walk away. And hey, the more players, the more people to play against in multiplayer

ye that a good point. It proves alot of peoples worries that the site can be counter productive in spreading the word. The dates for news is very putting off, from a critical gamers perspective i gues they are coming to the site, seeing no news for a month, and gaps of 6 months sometimes and thinking they cant care mucha botu the game or there wud be more info and news.
Of course everyone who looks through these boards know the truth about the devlopers and thier hard work, but critical gamers and surfers looking at the site wont know that. gaining a fanbase is never a bad thing, it think some times and effort should go into something to that effect.

Yeah!
That's so kind of you jig. The most important thing in keeping up patience is to recall what you are waiting for from time to time
