Reserves will be asked to play if the original player cant play for whatever reason and yes ill put you down as a cardy reserve.

Obviously if we are in mid game a reserve wouldnt be able to step in as the empire will be partly built by another player who would want to come back to it in the same state

But if we get a full team of reserves there nothing stoping you lot from playing a game along side this one

30 minutes turns???

Damn, are you guys crazy? I always put in a 2 or 3 min. timer when playing multiplayer. Sometimes even with single player.

The game has to keep going; there needs to be some action and excitement in it!

With the map size, quality of players there is no way a game will finish in one night. By the looks of things ill be playing with pros which is what ive always wanted to do!
This game is going to last a while unless people get destroyed in the enterprise era . When i said i take 5 mins i ment me personaly, obviously others may take longer per turn but as long as we come to an agreement and keep to a steady game it will possibly be the best game of botf i would have ever played and proberly the longest as well!

Ehem.. What is wrong with taking ur time if u have a large empire and you lots of things on the go? Its turn based so theres no rush. About during and after turns at about turn 150-170 i usually take about 10 mins per turn epsecially if im planning strategys. As most of the time i take is when im in the colony windows building or somit.

But usually from begiing till about 140 i take about 2-4 mins on average.

in botf1 i prefer cardassia, but i still play them all

normally my turns are ready in 40 sec till 3 minutes max when i have a lot to do. i would never play with limit of above 5 minutes

on multi play for the first 100 turns or so you should take no more than 2 to 3 minutes to check everything and go, when i played etan (one of the best) it was always quick turns. also against dafedz it was a 5min timer.
so quick turns or i fall asleep.

i wish you could spec the game like in A2 it would be fun to insteed of not playing at all

Well, in a word, yes.

I like to think of myself as a good player, but the sequel, while being similar to the first game, is going to be alot different. I'd like to see some of that before jumping into mp. If mp is actually released right away with the game/demo, would you really play a mp game first thing?

I'd be up for being in any open spot (i have no preference, i like to play as everyone)

I don't know how much you all know about Civilization IV, another of my anticipated games.

For Multiplayer, they are going to have a pit boss. Basically a server type program that organises data sending and can save games, deal with disconnections etc. Really clever idea. A smaller version of that would be great for BOTF2 (smaller because less players) and more useful, although I don't know how easy it would be to make or copy from Civ4.
