So your last opponent should kill his own empire? No, that's not the sense of reBOTF. You play to win, that *inevitably* means to have wars.

Not necessarily, cant you dominate the galaxy and just expand, obviously wars are going to happen but hopefully not all should be empire defeating ones.

I am only saying that the goal of the game is not to go on a rampage and eliminate as much empires as possible. A ranking system should reflect that and not force a way of playing to the player. If someone wants to use diplomacy and make friends and allies everywhere, he shouldn't get penalised for that.
Personally I think this system works better and will be more fair for everyone than the one suggested before.

That's quite alright, but you wont win a single game against other human players. After all it's a game that has to have an end if you wanna have a useful ladder, though I can think of another possibility: The Federation can win if they "survive" a given number of turns (say 1000 or 2000) without a war, if the other players agree in this term. Though I can't imagine you will win a multiplayer game against experienced players.

I never said the federation wouldn't be able to go to war! Of course they would! Especially when they are left over with one other player. Besides, it doesn't even has to be the federation that declares the war.
It's just that giving points for eliminating players may be a bit unfair for the feds as they will most likely eliminate fewer empires than, say, the Klingons.

Well the federation has perhaps other methods to gain points, by perhaps let minors join them or something... Would ask for even more programming...

Because if you have less then 100 posts, you still have newbie "status". When you have more posts you gain in "status". Anyway only admins can require the rank of fleetadmiral. Gavin, Jiglypuff and me are mods, so is davidz. I have given Gavin, jig and me the name of fleetadmiral will give it to davidz in just a second...

Well thank you for clearing that up in a very sarcastic way!
I hope there is a pre made ranking system it would all be worked out fairly ect, I would much rather that be in than the one we have made here. I made this thread not knowing there were plans for one and it looks like a lot of people didnt know theres no need to be like that in your post.

Its a bit strange i've got over 600 posts and yet i'm still an Ensign. Wouldn't something like 250 be better for Luitennent JG?

Thanks Captan! If you look at the Bridge Commander Universe promotions then they seem to be a fair bit less than BOTF II. Why are they so high?
