What gives, yesterday I was an Ensign, todays a cadet (and I'm not the only one, I see a few lt. commanders who were also demoted to lieutenant).
I agree with what colione said, it should be the quality, not the quantity of the posts, but if some of us want our old ranks back, I suppose, we should let the spamming begin!

Geez thats some amount of posts. I have been a member of another forum for over 18 months and only just past 1000 posts. The ranking system seems a little crazy to me.
But at the end of the day, does it matter?

But like you said, it doesnt particulary matter.
Speaking of things that dont really matter. The little pip picture for your rank is slightly off. A lieutenant (like SOM) should only have 2 full pips, not two full pips, and an empty one (that would be lt commander). A "cadet" like myself shouldnt have one at all, perhaps cadets and recruits could share the empty pip rank?

Could one of the mods post a list of posts>rank?
I'd be interested to know when i'll be up for Gul? Or Captain as you Federation dogs insist on calling it.

Agreed Rigel. I don't get why it was changed, though. Just change it back and the pips make sense as well again.

I'll second that. The number of posts required does seem a little on the high side and like Rigel said a Lt. is two gold pips and a Lt. Commander is 2 gold and one black.

And an ensign is one gold pip, while a cadet is one black one. And this 'recruit'...
Can't remember that to be an official rank, if even a lone position besides another word for 'cadet'.

I will discuss new rank stats with jig when i have the chance. I agree that its abit too high at the moment. Someone with 2000 posts should be a captain, perhaps more...

Usually on forums it sorta goes a bit like:
1-50 New member
50-100 - member
100-400 - experianced member
400-800 senior member
800 + expert member
Something vaugly like this i remember on a few forums i stayed at. SO thats what it goes like in general for use as a guidline here.
1-50 posts = Cadet
50-100 posts = Ensign
100-200 posts = Lt junior grade
200-500 posts = Lt 1st grade
500-750 posts = Lt Commander
750-1000 posts = Commander aka number 1
1000-1500 posts = Captain
1500-2000 = Commodore
2000-4000 = Admril
Or for something new for a change as no one said it HAS to be ranks in starfleet :p So these can be either just a race status or a race rank
1-100 - Bajoran / Bajoran Leison Officer
100-300 - Cardassian / Cardassian Gul
300-500 - Romulan / Romulan Tal Shiar Opperative
500-1000 - Klingon / Klingon Doja Master (whatever it is kor is or somit)
1000-1500 - Federation / Federation Captain or admril
1500-2000 - Dominion / Dominon Founder
2000-5000 - Q / Q member of the continum

I also don't realy get why the 'newbie' status still remains. It doesn't fit at all!
Make 1-100 posts a cadet, then 100-250 ensign, 250-500 lieutenant jr. grade, 500-1000 lieutenant, 1000-1500 lieutenant commander, 1500-2000 commander, 2000+ captain.
That's what I had in mind. Now even the most veteran posters are ensign or even a cadet.

I think i have a good view of this. I already decided for myselve that the newbie stat should go out.

I have to put some change in it, either change the postnumbers, or the picture of a stats. Besides don't you think that recruit should become newbie and if more then 100 posts will become cadet. etc...
