And the gap is ever widening, it used to be double the speed, but now the minimum speed for all the UK Companies is nearly going to be 1mb!
Bit of a difference, and files are only getting bigger

That's probably the main difference, the avergae game then was about 10megs or less (1988). Hardrives were <850mb and the best procesor around was a 12mhz 486DX. Oh and there was no accelerated Graphics either. And you had about 1meg of RAM max.
Sorry if this bored you - i'm a computer geek

In 1988? Try a 286 CPU, 512kb RAM, and maybe 10-20mb harddrive. Most games ran off one or two 5.25" floppy disks. No CD-ROMs, no sound cards, and mostly EGA graphics. Things got much better in the 386 days .

Maybe i'm thinking more 1990/91 then? I estimated far too much on the Hard Drive - 850mb came about 1995 lol

workbench in 1988 (i think it was 3.0 iirc) was already 16bit colour and had features that windows wouldn't copy until 95 or 98...

Time for a bit of speculation
Do you think we could see the Demo today. I think it could be
Jigaly and Gavin havent been on for a while, maybe they have been engrossed in finishing the last touches or testing
Saturday seems logical as the previous release date was a Saturday
Oooh. I love speculation

Can i reitarate what i've said before. There is no logical demo release date. The Demo will be released when it is completed NOT before.

What I see is that between the announcement and the presumed release date were 5 days, thus I thought the delay would not have been longer than that. Though I think the Interview gavin has made last weekand made clear it will certainly be worth the wait. I agree it shouldn't be any longer than a few days but still the same as always: I've not heard anything more than you, so I just don't know.
Though I'm a bit disappointed it was delayed at all because from next week on I'm off to university so there will be not really much time for testing out rebotf for a while

I think I can still afford waiting a while, but I think the best would be this weekend. Then I have time to test the game, we have public hollyday on Monday!! I hope the game will be brilliant, but I am still a little bit pessimistic...Not because I do not trust the ability of our programmers, but everyone has another taste. (So I haven't found a Mod I really like, I prefer original BotF)
Looking forward to release (if it's gonna happen)

So this thread has been created only to give us some room to rant about how much we want the demo.It seems clear we all want it as soon as possible. I'm not sure talking about it is releaving my inner tensions... but if it helps anyone, this is definitely the spot. And I'll give it a try myself.
We should find something to occupy the time b4 the demo...For example,
last week I played a game that took me 2 days to complete, rather cool in it's own right, not sure I'm allowed to mention it... (obviously cannot contend with botf 2), but it took my mind off the demo for a while, at least.
Talking about what can take your mind off almost anything: Today, ...
EDITED OUT: personal life stuff, I decided it doesn't belong on forums
Enough about me... What's happening to that demo?

You guys should have patience... the main developer is away for work still. (if i'm not mistaken) It will come soon enough.

Do you know which problem you have? I think you mentionend, that you have the BotF CD (I hope so). Which Windows do you have? Perhaps you can look on the BotF Site of Armadafleetcommand for some patches you need.
Best wishes
