As i've mentioned before, a model i'd like to see in the game, is the D'kazanak class.

It isn't a canon ship, but is (Unofficially) also know as the C-type Warbird. (Although it looks more like a predecessor to the D'deridex)

I downloaded the ship from battleclinic.com, for Starfleet Command 2.

If you wanted jig, I could post/send you the pictures I made so you could make your own version, or you could ask the creator of the model if you could use his - I can't actually find out who created it though, the creator isn't listed in the creator section. :(

Anyways, this is the link to the download. It's the seventh one in the list:
http://battleclinic.net/docks/dock.php?id=1758

I think the ship could be used as a possible model for either the D'bora class Cruiser IV, or the D'Idricon Class Battle Cruiser III.

I don't know what you'll think about this, but the second time the Romulans are ever seen, they are using D7s. I'm not saying anything but that it has actually been used by the Romulans in the TOS episode "The Enterprise Incident," a great episode by the way. I won't be disappointed if you don't add them or anything, I just thought you might like to know. If you do add them, you might want to repaint them too.

the designs are great very ENT.

Jig I have only one request.

The color of the romulan ships place make them the deep dark green of the Valdore class.

@ Smith, yes the romulans had d7 class cruisers in tos but that was only because they ran out of money to make any new models and were reusing older models.

Although... It would be ok i think to use a more romulan skin on the d7 model jig has done but it all depends really on if we have plans for a diff model to be used.

Personally i don't mind doing one or just making a new skin for jigs model if need be. Be best to wait and see when the demo/game comes out to find out if it gets in or not.

Well, now that I think of, it would look out of place alongside any other Romulan ship. Maybe it's best left out, besides, the D7 is the definition of the Klingon fleet in my opinion. When I see it, I think of Klingons. Although I'm sure the Romulan skin would have looked awesome.

Valcoren, i've already mentioned about the colour of the ship to Jig in a PM last night (Which is why I am only now posting on this thread) - he said he'll make it darker, although he thought the Cloak would be enough!

...

I would be happy having recoloured D7's in my fleet - that's one extra class of ship to join my fleets at least! :D

I got the impression the Romulans had somehow managed to get their hands on a few D-7's, the dialogue simply stated "they're using klingon designs", I never got the impression they had any more than a few D-7's. As a result I'm not sure I'd like them to be a Romulan ship, it strains credibility slightly that if in BoTF 2, Klingons and Romulans never meet, yet they both field an identical ship design.

Loving the Rom ships Jig, although I'd only have maybe one other Warbird type design, I always got the impression it was awe inspiring and very different, not very similar to several other classes before it.

Well in cannon history the romulans and klingons had a breif alliance with the share of technology. The romulans had poor ship design and was impressed by the d7 ships so the klingons shared there design of them and in return the klingons was given the cloak technology. I think the alliance was just before tos era although not 100% sure when it happened.

It looks perfect Jig - the new bridge section does actually look better than the original, more sleek and streamlined. :D

Are you going to make any changes to the Nacelles though? :?

I've just noticed that in the original model, the wings ended at a slight angle, but the Nacelles were straight, leaving an overhang. It's hard to see in the pictures I made, but it is definitely there.

It just doesn't look right to me, somehow.

Anyways, I can't wait to see it with it's textures on! Image

...

Skeeter, there is very little information on the supposed alliance, simply because the writers could always come back to it one day in the future. (We can only hope, anyway)

The alliance was very short-lived though, and once both sides had the technologies they wanted, they quickly turned their backs on each other.

SOM is right though - whilst this alliance may or may not have happened, there will always be the possibility that the Klingons and Romulans might not meet in a typical game of BOTF2.

So how exactly would they come to have the same ship design without meeting...? 8O :?

TOS-Movies era Romulan ship, which hopefully negates the need for a D-7.

Canon refers to all on screen evidence, (movies, tv shows etc). The proposed Klingon/Romulan alliance is in no way canon or even hinted at, although it does make logical sense given the Klingons suddenly got cloaking tech. Maybe the Romulans panicked that the cloak wasn't that big an advantage and their ships were too weak after Balance Of Terror and approached the Klingons for a trade.

I like it. The bigger nacelles suggest a slightly lower tech, is this ship the A-Type Warbird, hinted at in Yesterday's Enterprise?

The ship was a download I had for Starfleet Command 2.

It is obviously an unofficial class, and is also unofficially known as the C-type Warbird. (At least, that's what it says on the site)

On the site, it is actually listed as being a D'deridex counterpart - a smaller, lighter, faster, and cheaper alternative to the D'deridex - just like the Nebula was the alternative to the Galaxy really. (So perhaps it could be the Romulan Nebula-class equivalent?) :?:

...

Oh, and whilst I can see what you mean Janusi, I agree with SOM - the longer Nacelles make it look older and slower, which I think suits the ship.

I personally think it looks older than the D'deridex that we all know and love, ( ) so because of this perhaps it would be better to place it as an older ship - which is why the long Nacelles would be better.

The final size of the Nacelles will have to depend on where the ship is placed in the game - pre- or post- D'deridex.
