Just a quick question for anyone in the know, (can't believe that's not me anymore!)

Originally, the tactical combat side of the game was going to be implemented after the initial release, and we would get some kind of 2d combat to tide us over. As you know I've not been regular here for the last 7 months or so, I'm wondering if that's changed now, given the fact the game is being released later than intended.

I'm sure this has been answered previously, but I'm sure someone can fill me in. Those gorgeous models would be wasted in 2D! :D

As far as I remeber that was planned for a testing release. But since we will have the final release soon I think the tactical combat will be 3d.

As far as I know at least the orbitals are *shown* in the battle screen, I dunno if they can be destroyed there.

yea, we expected the demo last saturday, it was tested and everything so the first release shouldnt be delayed unless there was a problem with the 2d tactical mode. you can always add the 3d mode as the first patch cant u?

!!!!!!!!The States Class is my Favorite Starship!!!!!!!!!

The States PT/Troop Cruiser is the first operational troop missile cruiser in Starfleet. These unique vessels have gained the respect and admiration of their crews because of their handling characteristics and offensive capabilities. The overall design came from Terran MACOS Engineering design teams to create a cruiser with photon torpedoes as its main weapons. And the main military troops number to 160. And it is first ship in starfleet to have holodeck for troop. Plus it has the only two transporters that has 80 pods each.

The teams took the old Starstalker Class secondary hull spaceframe, and Constitution II Class primary hull. These ships have so captured the heart and spirit of the Terra that the majority are crewed solely by them. All have been named for all States of Terra. The States class forms the core of all squadrons in the famed 'Beta Terra Fleet', and is an integral part of front line troop cruisers forces for Star Fleet.

The warp engines are mounted like the Starstalker Class and with Excelsior warp engines . As with all Starfleet vessels, the engines can be jettisoned in case of an overload in the matter/anti-matter chamber.

The States PT/Troop Cruisers saw great use in battles against the Klingon, Tholian, Breen and Romulan empires. The ability to saturate a target with photon torpedo fire proved an excellent way to cripple targets at range, making all the strongest cruisers and the fast transporte assault troops sufficiently so skirmish units could finish the job.

Go see my design at (http://www.geocities.com/mars_database/main.html)

I hope you like it .

oh will you see orbital with no power to them? or just acctivated ones

I'd go for only if you order bombard planet. Solar systems are whopping, and orbitals are just that- in orbit.

I agree, we want some realism kept intact I would think

I'd also hate it if you had to 'engage' the orbitals every time I sent in a Cloaked Shrike to do some intel gathering...oops! Did I say that?

According the interview on STGU, the initial release will be with 2D-tactical combat which will be patched to 3D at a later date. Is this still accurate?
