I took the weather report from a few months ago on Dead Ringers to heart! (The one where the made fun of the changes to the weather maps, with a bigger Scotland, Wales with a gap between it and England, Cornwall next to London, and the Isle of Wight moving around! )

Cool, so many people from so many different countries....And 5 Germans! I am German and quite content with it...But you all think only Germany is one country, it isn't. You would say I am from Bavaria, but I wear normal clothes and I hate beer!! (Just to clear that klischee for our US-friends)

After looking at the results from the poll, I must conclude that all true trekkies live outside the US, namely Europe.

In regards as to why everyone thinks the UK is one country, I could even say Germany, is because everyone over here is either too dumb to know the difference, too lazy to care, or tired of trying to tell everyone else its any different.

The uk consists of England, Scotland, Wales and my country Northern Ireland ( btw anyone see the football :p)

I think Germany and The US are federal states... as in federations of states. While the UK is not divided into states like the US and Germany. So you can say you're from, say, Northen Ireland but it's not the same as saying you're from Texas... see my point?

However, in this case, country is refering to any independent state-nation with it's own president, queen or whatever... and Bavaria and Texas are not idependent by themselves...

In conclusion, if you're from Northern Ireland your country is UK...
and if you're from Bavaria - It's Germany.
And if you want to call your state from your federation - Country.. it's ok. However, if you want to call a region/division you're in as Wales or England - Country then I suppose you wouldn't be politically correct.
