One of the things I like about playing botf is seting up different scenarios I.E by bribing certain races and making sure my starting place is optimum and then playing on impossible mode.

Will there be a way to get extra funds/research quickly like the cheats for botf?

From all we know virtually everything will be moddable, so there is no need for cheats.

nope no cheats. modding the game will be easy enough though so you can up your credits and the like.

That was the main "get out of jail" cheat for BOTF anyway. I find all but the most amusing cheats spoil the enjoyment of the game. Someone may decide to make a cheat mod though Jig?

well cheats can sometimes make the game fun, build lots of starbase all over the map cwould be fun lol, could you use the game editers for BOTF now or do you need to be a big modder to mod the game for creditS?

The whole point of BOTF2 has from the start has been to make the game as ultimately moddable (Within reason) as is possible.

This still means that you will need to be able to use a computer and other basic stuff (Obviously you can - or someone else is doing the typing for you! 8O ) to be able to make any changes.

The actual computer skill needed depends on the complexity of the mod in question though.

Making small changes (Like increasing your credits etc) will likely be just editing a simple tet file or something. (Don't quote me on that though, I know nothing of how Gavin has actually programmed the game)

More complex things, like adding ships or minor races, will apparently be facilitated by a special built-in program that will add the files into the game for you. This was mentioned quite a long time ago by gavin though, so I don't know if it is still in - fingers crossed though.

As for truly major changes, it's probably best to leave those to the experts, like Gavin and Jig. These changes will likely still require knowledge in programming etc.

For the kinds of mods that Joe Bloggs will make though, you shouldn't have a problem - so there will be no need for cheats.

Or in certain games use the Invincibility cheat :D It does spoil that atmosphere a tad though

Well the offical rules are 120x120, but it doesn't resize the forum.

btw... many are violating those rules. As long as it doesn't resize the forum or isn't to long, i won't complain.

EDIT: Your avator really loads extremely SLOW... Try putting it on a free picture upload site or something.

My best ship out of all the trek ships. Can cloak and looks so kickass.

Why would anyone need cheats for such a moddable game? If you want to go crazy just up your credits to ridiculous extremes or go into the ship editor and have the Sovereign available at tech 1.

The modding aspect has been built into the game, meaning it will be completely idiot proof. We'll all be able to tweak certain things is needed.
