In an effort to find something to play while I wait for Botf 2, I found a game that may prove interesting for us trek fans.
First, you need Space Empires IV Gold(a bit of experience playing it as it is may help) and then look for and add the star trek mod for it... it's quite interesing, the only downfall is tactical combat not being 3D but you have a lot of detail and options like stellar manipulation and tractor beams, designing your own ships, cloaking and ground assault, the works.It's only canon to the extent the mod can provide, but it's still rather addictive. I hope mentioning another game won't kill me, but I really think this is something you guys(and girl(s) ) should try. Lemme know what you think.

I wish I could just hand it to you... yes, i suppose i forgot it wasn't that easy getting the game in the first place... i found a spot where u can get it.. (it's not where i got it but it seems to be working)

after u install the game, play it a bit, try to give it a chance, it may look puzzling at first with all the options...(it did to me.).

then go to
http://imagemod.spaceempires.net/
and get the full image mod, you'll need this to install the star trek mod..
install it.(read the instructions, if you run into any trouble)

then go to http://www.spaceempires.net/home/
click downloads
or just go directly to http://www.spaceempires.net/home/downloads.html
somewhere in Space Empires IV Gold/ Mods there should be the Star Trek mod.. or even better just type in the search box in the same downloads page: Star Trek

the mod is called
Star Trek Mod 1.9.2.2 Full (do not confuse with the patch)

so recap:
1. get Space Empires IV Gold.
2. install it.
3. get image mod from http://imagemod.spaceempires.net/
4. get star trek mod from http://www.spaceempires.net/home/downloads.html
by searching for Star trek in the provided search box.
