hi there another question from me! ive been playing alot of botf recently and ive made a huge federation power controling alot of enemy planets which got in my way! but i have two problems

1) ive made the system far better than the ferengi had it but there attidute is still 'defiant' is there another way other than martial law to help improve the moral of the system

2) when ever i invade a planet with troop transports and a large fleet in my summary it always says how people are unhappy with the 'inhumane' assualt, and as a result my empire wide moral goes from appathetic to defiant or somthing. can i either imrpove my moral (other than empire wide moral buildings) or is there another way to invade a planet that makes people 'happy'

Playing the feds they will never be happy when you invade a planet! Exspecially if your the one that declared war on the race! What you should try doing is signing some peace treaties, build moral buildings, and win some ship battles.

It's true - if you're playing as the Federation, FORGET about capturing systems!

If you want to take an enemy system, your best chance is to wipe out the existing inhabitants, and then colonise it yourself.

If you attack the system with a massive fleet (And I do mean massive) you might be able to wipe it out in one go. This will still cause you an Empire-wide morale decrease, but this can be reduced or even negated by colonising the system.

If you have a system that is rebellious or defiant, forget about building stuff, just use martial law.

When the martial law has completed, focus on building (And powering) buildings that can increase morale. Winning a battle is also a good way of increasing your morale throughout your Empire, as well as building things like the Federation Council, since both these methods give Empire-wide morale bonuses.

If you still want to capture enemy systems, but not suffer morale problems, I could email you a modded morale file, but some people would consider that cheating or defeatist. Send me a PM or an email if you want me to send it to you.

It's your choice either way.

If you'd rather mod the game yourself, just go here:

http://www.armadafleetcommand.com/botf/index.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownload&cid=3&min=10&orderby=titleA

Download the tool called BoTFME - that's the program that allows you to mod the morales of each of the major Empires.

You have to be logged into the site before you can download stuff though - just use the same login details that you use on this site, since armadafleetcommand is the parent site of this one.

erm should`nt this sort of question be asked at the botf forums  i often play as feds, i break treatys, i bombard, i decalare war, i lose no morale. how? i hear you cry. easy, win battles, have the edo, and feddie headquarters upping that morale, win more battles, it is easy to keep morale up as the feds.

A great way to raise morale after some genocide, Is to colonise the planet straight away. The people hate when you bombard planets yet they love it when you colonise them straight after :).

The key to being an Imperialist as the Feds is HAVE A PLAN. Don't just invade whenever you feel like it.

I usually bombard/invade planets when I have a bunch of other morale boosting things set up. Examples: empty worlds ready to colonize, minor battles to win, treaties with minors or majors, membership treaties, etc. Doing these things simultaneous with your invasions will help a great deal.

The second key to invasion as the Feds is to be quick and overwhelming. The worst thing you can do is take 5 or 6 turns to conquer a planet as the feds. You want 1-2 turns at most.

Finally, you must choose your targets wisely. The Feds are not like the Cardies who can methodically conquer one world afer the next, marching right up to the enemy homeworld. You need to pick the big, juicy worlds which sustain your opponents production. Planets with dilithium are also obvious targets.

Good luck,

I've also noticed several times that I conquer a system, it gets 'defiant' and rebels before martial law can take effect, even when I start it right away.

actually about martial law... it says it takes 5 turns but after 6 turns pluss it seems to take up the build qure? does that mean i have to have mratial law clogging it up untill moral goes up?

Martial Law, Police State, Inquisition, etc., all take 5 turns to get running and then they stay in the que adding morale every turn. For Klingons (only race I ever seem to play) it adds 9 morale a turn back until you reach disgruntled and then it doesn't help anymore.

It is relatively easy to fool the Feds during war. Sending out Defiant wings to win easy battles. That's my favourite in long games...
When I can afford it, I stack up minors, ready to join me, and then go around kicking a$$.
And the cardinal rule, never declare war. Manipulate them into declaring it.
