No demo is out yet. There was *supposed* to be one out, but the programmer got set back some.
Give it a week or so maybe and it might be out, since I think I read Gavin say he's taking this week or this coming week off work entirely to code.
Even if there is none in a week, well, they also said I think by last december we'd have a demo, but plenty of posts from different people indicate there's a work dev-only demo of sorts, works being made. Still though, I figure it'll be out soon..

I have a little advice to everyone who's anxiously awaiting BOTF2... Whenever it occurs to you that you really want it TO COME OUT NOW!!! Take a step back and consider all the times you've bought games that were rushed into release and were barely functional until the 2nd or 3rd patch. Have some respect for the devs that are attempting to release a stable, playable product. I, for one, have waited five years for BOTF2, and am more than willing to wait a little longer for a playable game.

PS - This isn't really aimed at you Noxx, I realize you're just curious and have been away for awhile. However, someone is asking this question every 2-3 days lately... Try looking through old posts before you ask a question that someone has probably already asked recently.

First of all sorry for my bad english.
Second of all I am writing here about thoughts I have. Some may feel personally attacked by my post which is not my intention.
There is something about which I wanted to write for a couple of weeks now, but I have not found time for it.
When I first found this website and read about the project I was really amazed. I always loved BOTF and I am still playing it from time to time and a sequel would be great. But then I began wondering if it is realistic. I am a programmer myself and have done very small games and the stuff, which is discussed in the Game Request topics was just "hillarious". Especially when it comes to the AI, for example that it should be able to learn. Some stuff was discussed a whole team of professional programmers would not accomplish (I do not want to say that gavin is not a pro).
But all of this I hoped was just the excitement of the other fans.
Regarding the game it was very quiet for a long time, but then in the summer it began that stuff has been announced (screenshots, video, demo) and from this point of time, people were asking for the release of this stuff.
As far as I know, the video has not been released yet, there has been not even half a dozen screenies and the demo which has been announced for release more than a month ago is also not available, there have always been some coincidences.
Regarding the screenies I just can't imagine that it takes that long to make a screencap if I have a running game.
Regarding the demo. I think it was announced during a weekend for the release the next weekend. Then the tragedy of the death of his friends relative came into gavins life (life really sucks sometimes) and stops the demo being released.
But at this point the demo should have needed only about 7 days for completion but this was more than a month ago. I know Gavin is now busy with moving house, but I just talk about my own experience. If I have a program near completion, I know there is more little stuff to be done than first expected and it takes longer although you already see the finishing line but after that a long time of work I would be so eager to complete the demo just to release it and let the game go for a couple of time.
Again this is no personal attack but sometimes I feel like the whole story is like a hoax or at least the game is not quite as far as told by some people.
Of course I hope I am totally wrong and there is already a very cool BOTF 2 out there near completion.
One thing: I don't even expect an answer from one of the guys, but on the other hand I do not really want an answer from people who have not seen anything from the actual game and can just say "Of course there is a game and it is near completion" or something like that.
As I said, these are just my thoughts, don't be angry.

good points all of them, with regards to the demo, it was nearly ready and we were testing the components at the time of the death of gavins friend, i have personally tested severel parts and they were working ok. there were however problems with both the multigame components and the 3d engine not scaleing the models properly.
the main reason for the huge delay in the demo is not all down the gavin moving, it is also because he has so much work on, i have spoken to him and sometimes he pulls 14 hour days, which as you can imagine leaves zero time for the game. now some good news, gavin has cleared a week next month to concentrate fully on the game, so we should have a release ready quite soon. i hope this puts aside some of your fears of this being a hoax, but think about this, who would run a hoax for over a year? it would have gotten boring after a few weeks

What a guy Gavin is, same goes for all the devs. The amount of work they put in to achieve this. A great credit to you all.
Who's buying the first round?
