Well i'll agree with some of that. Though quite a few of REM's songs are not slow - Losing My Religion, What's The Frequency Kenneth, Animal. AFAIC, it all depends on what type of song it is and what kind of mood your're attempting to achieve.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts Smith

Not sure about REM...I haven't heard any of thier songs but may see about sampling a few. What's everyone's take on System of a Down? I've heard a few of their songs and I like most of what I've heard, just not sure about going and buying an album. Opinions?

Just reading my post again, it didn' t quite come off as I had intended. It sounds as though I hate REM, but what I was really trying to emphasize was that when I hear REM I think of that long drive in the desert listening to REM for what seemed like eternity. So I guess I'm prejudice against REM, however I have an open mind, so I guess I will try to listen to them again. I'm fairly sure I have access to all of their CDs. Can you recommend something to someone who likes music with a good rhythm and is at least fairly well paced?

Long gone are the days where I was going to gigs 2 or 3 times a week (all started in my teenage punk days many moons ago) but I must admit that when ever I hear SOAD I always seem to get that rush of youth again.
They are a sort of band that grab you by the balls and makes you bounce of the walls (padded walls in my flat ) reminds me of the days where Metalica, Anthrax, Megadeath and Helloween first grabbed me.

Thx for the feedback Jade and Lobsang. I'll check out Mezmerize. Any tracks you recommend from it? I'm kind of addicted to their song "Chop Suey" right now so if I am able to pull away from it I'll go and get Mezmerize

Well, while I dont have anything against REM, they definately dont even get near my top 10. Sure, theres alot of decent rock out there today, but classic rock holds a special place with me. Hendrix, Cash, Queen, the Doors, the Cure, Tom Petty, Pink Floyd to name a few.
Some other more contemporary favorites are: (in the order I saw them while looking through my mp3's)
311
Beastie Boys
Beck
Bloodhound Gang
Bob Marley
Coldplay
DMB
Evanescence
Foo Fighters
Gorillaz
Incubus
Jack Johnson
Jane's Addiction
Linkin Park
Metallica (before 2000)
Muse
My Chemical Romance
NIN
Pearl Jam
Radiohead
Smashing Pumpkins
STP
Sum 41
Weezer
White Stripes
And last, but certainly not least, since its been a favorite of mine since I was 14, is Sublime. A great band, who's lead left this world much too early. (Theres more, but I've taken up toomuch space already.)

Stacey's Mum was a load of BS - how that ever got to number 1 is a mystery to me. Hate Busted and McFly, can't stand the music at all.
Thought James's Blunt's number one was pretty good though
