Must admit i never got round to it. I'm playing as Roms at the moment but i'm at war with the known universe on impossible so i'm not about to start messing about with scouts, lol!

trust me they are worth their weight in gold, just get a small system to build 9 of them while your busy doing other things then you can try them out when your done. I must admit to not using many other ships now that i know that trick....well maybe the warbird

here is another good tactic, but with the cardies. since i find their ship pretty much as useful as garbadge scows. If im facing and uphill battle i will always ram. why you ask??? because incase anyone hasnt noticed they have double the hull strength of any ship of their class for example i have 2 scouts and the enemy has 2 destroyers, i ram, if my ships get there then its pretty much 2 for 2:)

i got a few sneaky tactics i like to play, theres 2 i like to play on the minor races, nice tricks these to mess up the other majors, throw a few credits so the target minor likes you, follow the diplomatic rout till they become affiliated then stick a starbase in the system and just blatantly ignore em, the fact the starbase stays there under your control even if another power takes over the system boggles me, the benefit of this is that you get to kill newly made ships that the ai keeps pumping out at the cost of credits, another one i like is just as nasty, if i get a minor member of no importance or use with ships pestering to join i'll let em, scrap every structure including ships then declare war on em, gives beer money, this tactic is also usefull if you know someone is bribing them and you cant be bothered counter bribing, cos as soon as your opponent takes em over they hafta build em right back up. using tactics like these in conjunction with sabotage can realy mess up the major powers. using mobs and mobs of scouts is one i have been using for years, literaly, low cost, big return, quick churn out rate. i love to send single scouts against outposts and sticking em on evade, i swear its like watching a yorkshire terrier taking down an eliphant, send a mob to take out the echo papa and edo guardian builds up ship xp fast, needless to say this tactic will only work on cloaked ships. using the above tactics today as the cardassians i messed up the ferenghi and romulans so bad they got annexed by the feds and klingons, both of whome worship me and affiliated with me due to bribery, using war pacts i turned them against each other and set loose the full force of the obsidian order on them both after they battered each other down.... crazy, i only have 4 systems and 30 stolen ships and im winning lol. well back to my game, i want to see how it turns out before the borg turns up.
