we still need a bunch of minor vessels. Federation ships are according to daf finished. We have vulcan ships, andorian ships, bajoran ships, finished. But please tell us when you start on a minor ship, this way we can tell you if it is needed. I wil try and make a list of finished ships.

Another thing we have to keep in mind, there are a lot of people making different kinds of models now. Is there any policy regarding the quality and style of the ships. As every modelor has undoubtedly his own style. If there is no-one keeping track of this, we may end up with lots of models with varying quality and appearance.

I'd guess it's Gavin considering he's Lead Developer

This game is not over, but the fan following of this project it is dwindling. It has a lot to do with all the open speculation coming from the fan community it’s self. With its’ doubts of how far along the developers are in the project, along with the lack of communication from the developers to the community on the true state of the game. I’m sure we all can understand both sides of the field here.

On the fan side of things there has been really no signs of true near completion of the game or the famous “demo releaseâ€￾; only modeling work and a few screen shots of the game that could be easily passed off. (I’m not criticizing anything I’m like most people here. “It will be completed when it is completed.â€￾)

As for the Dev team I understand your side as well with the “it is an independent fan-base game and we don’t have to really provide the community with jack if we don’t feel like it, and you’re lucky we are sharing this with all of you in the first place.â€￾ Attitude at has surfaced from time to time.

I’m sorry that things have become to the point that Jig felt the need to drop his role in this project, and it is a shame that this community has let it’s self forget from time to time that you are lucky enough that these guys are willing to take time out of their lives to make this happen.

Jig I have only one request friend please remove the departure of the project from the main news area. Seeing that placed there places more doubt on the future of this game, it will only turn more people away from this community.

That wasnt a flame jig but im sorry any way. I just dont see the point in people posting stuff like this. If they want to help then they would. If all there going to do is start rumours about the game never being completed then i wont welcome them here.

Ye it's true what Jade put though - everyone is getting up tight about people who keep asking about the demo?

How about we have one topic on it and close the rest of them?

This game will be out! As far as I can see, Gavin is a religious person. I don't think it will be in accordance with his believe to set people up and then don't finish what he started.

I've noted the same about him, yet call me a secular heretic, but if his other circumstances (he does have a kid to bring up, after all, and that requires a job, which he works a lot at) get in the way, then he may have no other reasonable choice. Religion has its place, but there's priorities, and his family likely ranks a little higher than a PC game, right?

Only thing I'd hope for in that situation is just that everybody involved would make it open-source, stick it up at SourceForge, and be willing to let a new crew come in if they're interested. BOTF had enough of a following, and strategy games are, among their cultish followers, enjoying something of a resurgence (Stars! Supernova is dead, but theres clones underway, Space Empires V is well on its way, Stardock has their sequel coming out or already is out, and I'm probably forgetting a few) that BOTF II is a matter of when, not if, or so I seem to feel at least..

I realy fail to see what religion has to do with finishing a game. And I sincerely doubt that his religion is what thrives Gavin to make it. Therefore, it will also not stop him from cancelling the project should he believe it is for whatever reason nescessary.

Ill be emailing you shortly matress.....Thanks for your help. Now that i know what im doing im thinking that it wont take as long to pop them out. By the way, who is coordinating the modeld now???

The first ship is to be a troop transport or something along those lines
The second will be an enterprise era scout

oh yeah, about the ship im making. I lost the original blueprints, and it wasnt a good model in the first place. I can start working on a newer one, with knowledge i am accumulating ever day (im in a 3D design class for 70 minutes every day for the next 3 months). So just let me know, again, what is needed. sorry about that.
