Oh the evilness!
You guys are infecting the computers of the world with folding! If only you knew what that really meant...
...
TrekBoy, welcome to the avatar.
I wasn't really sure whether I should put your name on your avatar or not. I think it would spoil it, to be honest if it was in.
If you want me to add it in though, just let me know.
...
Silvercliff, i've added your new avatar in, but it doesn't look quite as perfect as your one on the site - some of the quality must have been lost when I copied and pasted it into MS Paint so I could add your name in.
I hope you like how your name fades in though.
It's 175 frames long now! 8O

oh yeah... i know that, i was just trying to make a friendly joke.
last 'prank' i pulled with electronics didnt even get me a detention... they couldnt prove it was me, other than someone squealed or didsomething to let them know i was involved... i was then told that if they caught me, i would be suspeneded. That was over a year ago, and ive laid low since then. I guess teachers like me or something.
back on topic... I will almost double my processing capacity once i put my other two computers online. also, im getting my avatar upgraded.

Okay, after BOINC finally pissed me off one last time (it suddenly stops talking to itself? Huh? Left arm cant talk to the right?) I finally got F@H back on most my machines.. at least for a while. It's on my dual-MP system now (4ghz), and soon as the queue flushes on my X2 (another 5.2ghz), I'll have it running.
Hopefully, some WU will trickle in within a day or two. I've set myself up to receive 600pts, so if they're out there... I'll get them.. hopefully..
Time to give you guys a run for your money before I get fickle and run back to my old BOINC flame

Is there anything we can do to persuade you to just do Folding@Home? With pcs like that you'd be a great asset

Now that my X2 system isn't sucking down little 48 point WUs, I think my total 'PPD' is in the neighborhood of 720 average, though a little hard to guess since it's been like 24 - 36 hours since I started running it all again. 170-ish from my Dual AMP2400+ system, 550ish from a moderately worked Athlon X2 @2.6ghz system.
Given some better WUs and less work on the X2 (been compressing a lot of junk files past few days, but that'll calm down), it could do maybe 50 ppd more.. AMP giving it about all she's worth, though it used to be a 600 point wu magnet, and it'd do better if it repeated that.
I've got two computers of my girlfriends under my desk that I really need to get around to fixing, they'd both help a ton. And a Turion64 laptop which I'll borg tonight -- I'll just guess 150ppd from it, not sure.
Doin' what I can for now, looking forward maybe goading the rest of you on to borg some computers to create some hard-core competition I saw some pretty nice pieces of silicon in that post-your-specs thread that could give me a run for my AMD money...
In fact.. eh.. you guys with the X2 4400+ (probably OC'd even!) can search for aliens....

I've seen that before myself, Qaz - although I don't know what it means.
I wouldn't worry if I were you, as long as the program doesn't crash, you should be fine.
It's only ever crashed on me once, and that was coz my internet connection screwed up whilst downloading the next work unit. The result of my last work unit were lost, and I ended up complete 12374/250 frames!
I reinstalled it, and it was fine.
Seriously, I wouldn't worry, the program knows what it's doing.

I've got one of those really annoying 250frame ones that takes f***ing ages. Done 7/250 in about 5 hours. Due to finish on Friday but it'll be more like next week for me. Any suggestions on how i can speed it up - i'm not running anything else at the same time

Other than what i've already said...no, I don't know any other way of speeding up the program.
If it really gets on your nerves, you could reinstall the program...BUT MAKE SURE YOU ENTER THE RIGHT INFO! Otherwise you'll end up sending your results to the wrong team or summat... 8O
You have to remember though, that the slow work units like this worth something like 600 points...EACH!!!

Well if SETI was to look for ET's then NASA is probably something to do with looking for planets far far away.
Only 60 hours to go

How am I supposed to know Billy?
I find that some frames are faster, and some frames are slower. It's just the way it is. If you really think the program has gone wrong though, just close it and restart it. (Right-click the red cog thing, select quit, then find the program in your startup menu, desktop, or wherever you put it and select it)
Everything up until your last checkpoint will be lost of course, so I hope you followed my instructions and set it to checkpoint every 3 minutes. (Or as often as your computer will allow you to)
I also find it takes about half an hour for the program to get running properly once it has started - the first frame takes about half an hour, then all subsequent frames go to their normal speed. So remember to take that into account - if the same thing happens to you.

no, i dont think so
SETI@home is about analyzing radio data our satellite pick up. We are trying to find "ET" by trying to pick up his radio signals. Planets dont emit radio waves.
correct me if im wrong, but thats how it worked for me when i was using SETI@home a couple years back.

Bogseat - if you're reading this, could you tell me who you are?
Send me a PM if you wish to remain anonymous to the masses.
If you want your avatar to be in the group avatar, then you'll have to let me know what you want - or at least who you are.
If you don't answer, then i'll have to assume that you're someone who's just entered the wrong number into the box...for which we'll be eternally grateful, but you'll be eternally confused as to where your points are going.
