Think of something nobody else has suggested, or enhance someone else's idea.

Well i'm doing it all the time and so have STHedgehog and SonOfMogh. Sometimes, i suddenly have a idea floating in my head. Like quadrants, Stardate Counter and race specific games. All that kind of stuff is just done by thinking about options that should be in the game. You can also tell the others, what you think about the ideas they have posted, about what is good and bad, give suggestion, etc...

Anyone who can't criticise and think up new ideas would make a pretty lousy game tester.

as the others have stated, also as i said there can only be so many people for the beta testing, i don`t care about how many posts a person makes, it`s the contribution of fresh ideas, which are debated so we get a decent game. also it`s no good saying it`s not fair, membership of this site will more than likely exced afc botf, if everyone posts then should they all be testers? sorry but there can only be so many, some have the right already for not only ideas but for putting on many hours of work on races race chat system names and other things, so they should have the right to test. everyone else will go in a hat. this is the last word on this subject.

This is what i understood from Jigglypuff and Gavin.
there will be a limit, because Gavin doesn't want to hear hundred of the same errors. He needs people that really have given a lot of time for this project, and also will do so for the beta.

that makes sense
i do have alot of time on my hands - no job no social life cuz all my firends moved away lol
and i have a pretty powerful computer that will no doubt run the beta and the demo, and eventually BOTFII without a problem
so, i have alot of time, and the computer to do it, and i also have years of game experience to call upon in finding any bugs within
and im here everyday as i have no life lol
so ill be here if called upon

Just keep on posting, and doing things for this game and then i'm sure you will be invited to help testing the game. Although i've nothing to say about, who is in and who is out.

Please sir?, can i be a tester?
Basically gturfrey and jijjlypuff are going to pick the testers. Dont get upset if they dont pick you (I know where you live remember ) But seriously, its better to have a few people that report diffrent aspects, rather than hundreds reporting the same stuff.
Post ideas, comments on ideas, and any help you can give and let the gods of Birth of the Federation II decide.

The initial run of beta testing should be done with a select group. How ever you should consider a larger group for final testing. It's the masses that are gonna find the truely hanneous bugs. That and a larger less personal group isn't going to be coy about telling you what is bad UI or graphics. On the sound front you should be able to find enough free stock sound bites online for your sound effects. Voice overs could be done by people here who have compression mics and a good voice for recording.

in the initial run, there will be a limited number of game testers. I don't know what will be decided for final testing, this depends on Gturfrey and Jigalypuff (they are the once that are leading this project ) The people that have done a lot of work and put in a lot of ideas, have shown to us all, that they will put in lots of time and effort, to look for bugs, but also for ideas that need to be changed. But i know that a lot of people are just to lazy to do anything I'm a dissapointed at the help we are receiving at the moment.

Hey, im willing to help, i just dont have much programming exp. Thats why i think i would be a good tester. Ive played the game to death, esp recently after I found this site. it sorta renewed the BOTF spark that was dying out inside me. So just so the programmers know, im willing to help, just ask. (I guess i need to do a few more posts to even be cosidered tho) Well i guess yu guys will be seeing more of my lovely Avatar around...
BTW, when do most of you guys get on the site, theres always alot of replies to posts, but im almost always the only member when i sign on. just wondering...

I see people saying that its the quality of the posts( good original ideas for te game) not quantity that will go into the consideration for testers. My prob is i joined the site kinda late compared to most, and i dont want to make a suggestion when odds are someone has already suggested it, or its already either been included in the game, or decided it wont be included in the game.
I want to be helpful, but i dont know how helpful id be when most of the coding for the game is already done...

Never fear...
Most of the good ideas are in the 'things we all agree on' thread in game request. Scan that then see if there's anything you'd like we've missed.
To be honest at the moment I get the impression the most valuble contributions are graphics, write ups, sounds. PM gavin or jig and see if they need anything doing. I'm writing out some race descriptions at mo, along with iwulff and omniQ, there are so many races that require these.

I would love to be a tester too.... I have a ton of posts, all of which I believe are constructive and full of ideas.
I just have one question... why do all the dates read 11/21/04? even when I post a reply, it reads that date....

o dear, you appear to be looking at the wrong date, when you post the date wil appear, when someone else posts then the date from that will supersede the previous one.
