Smacks of TOS to me, if it is Paramount wont touch it with a 10 foot barge pole. only way round it would be to make it TOS but ignore TOS ever existed, ie: do away with the corny old sets and put them more in line of a tech look between Enterprise and TNG. Mention TOS to paramount and they will put down whatever they are holding and back slowly out of the room.

They should do the movie period series or a new series of tng with the soverign in with picard back as i reckon he is still good for more trek yet tho dont think he wants to. Maybe riker could command the sov instead? Be nice to see him in command i think for a change.

I think Warf was the only successful cross over character from TNG – DS9 they tried doing it with Riker placing him in DS9 but no one cared to see him there and it would have replaced Kira if they did.

Actually the bajoran women from tng was supose to take kira's character role as her character from tng. But she was busy at the time of post production so they got nana vistor to play kira.
Ensign Ro Laren i mean.
Btw i reckon kira is better anyhow especially in her sexy red uniform hehe and even more so in mirror universe

Paramount has explicitly stated many times they are not interested in any more star trek for the next couple of years. So if they are also not interested in selling the rights, I am very sceptical this series will ever see the screen.

Yes I don't think Paramount would bring out another serie for a few years because they lost many fans with ENT .....for some reason......And it will cost a lot of money to create another serie......So it will become something like TrekBoyChris said.....

Whilst it would be great if there was more Trek, things just don't seem to be going weel at the moment.
A few days ago, I had an email off the yahoo saveenterprise group. Apparently, one of (Or all of) the big cheeses are planning to axe StarTrek.com! 8O
This is the email:
Quote: All Good Things: Well it would appear that Viacom, CBS or Paramount has decided to pull the plug on the official Star Trek website. It seems in the past that the Powers that be seem to keep pulling Star Trek out of the spotlight. StarTrek.com the official website has been the starting point for millions of fans worldwide to go to and catch the latest on what is happening with the Star Trek universe. It has been a meeting place for hundreds of thousands of science fiction fans worldwide. There forums are a place where Trek fans with similiar interest can meet and chat about all things Trek. Some might always agree with each other but none the less it has been a major focus point for fans. The time has come no matter what your thoughts are about the other series or whatever personal feelings you have about anyone to be set aside a unite for a common cause. Startrek.com is it. We cannot sit by and allow the official website to close. I know that I personally hit the main page daily to get current Trek information. Here is the plan. We want at least 100,000 people to send in emails of support for startrek.com to help keep it alive. Please do not post anything negative in these emails. We just need your positive upbeat support to see if we can once again try and help save an icon. Please have everyone that you know. Family, friends whoever to get behind this effort and send an email to editor@startrek.com with your words of encouragement to help save STARTREK.COM. Start TODAY, rigth now! time is most important. It does not matter if you tell them you are a Trek United member. The important thing here is that we ALL pull together and do what we can. Add Save StarTrek.com to your email sig tags, forum tags on all forums. Whatever you can do to help is greatly appreicated.. Get the emails going NOW! Tim
I don't know how true this is, especially since there hasn't been an official announcement, but...well, its another worring sign.
Actually, do people think I should make a new thread about this?

I would surmise to say, this is a tester to see exactly how many "people" are interested in trek still, and their interest in a new series right now...
I'd like to see more of the story line though...

Paramount should sell the rights to another major publisher. If paramount doesn't want to make movies, then somebody else should. Also i think that there should be a new and bigger writing crew. Something that actually makes sense. Anyway i would love to see a series based on the Akira class.

Ooh...me too, Iwulff!
A new series on an Akira would be great. I'd be just as happy with a series on the Titan though - as long as they don't use that ugly design.

as far as paramount are concerned i'd say the franchise is done and dusted for at least the next ten years.
i'd put good money on the next series launch coinciding with the 50th anniversary of TOS, and not before...

I hope if there ever comes a new serie it would be about the year 2380, with a discovery class ....or what you sait matress with the titan class that would be ace......but then it must be the design based on the sovereign....And finally it must not be called >>>ENTERPRISE<<<

Yea i agree its gong to while before a new series or moive and they was some talk about the nemise movie being the last of everything (after enterprise as well)
But i think that if this a fan bassed thing like that Star wrek or something i will not enjoy it carnt stand them fan based things
Need to have a series on section 51 i think that would be good going into what heppens but it would become very unlike star trek if so
SHould have a series on a Admiral class ship best class ever lol

I think a post-Dominion War series would be one of the best ever. Billions upon billions were dead, a few core federation planets were conquered and liberated, and the fleet, while in numerical terms only lost somewhere between 1/3 and 1/2, is spread very thin, since Federation space is massive.
A lot of aliens or factions that wouldn't of been mentioned before could be brought up; we know there's 'thousands', but maybe with the Federation weak, just like a parasite waiting for a humans immune system to falter, they finally try to assert themselves in different places. Throw in some suffering on planetary scale, along with exploration possibly spurred on by the need for resources or something, and you could have an epic as dark and gritty as you wanted, and that sort of thing sells like hot cakes these days: just look at BSG. In classic Star Trek style, plenty of room for social issues and exploration, too.
I'd bet a good $100 that these 'ten year' figures are off though. I'd say between 1 and 5 at the most before something gets the green light for production. If a movie takes 2 or 3 years to make, then at least the franchise wouldn't be dead, we'd know it was coming! There's too much instant gratification to wait for ten years JUST to build up some sort of momentum for a new showing, and memories are too short to need that long to wipe the slate clean.
I also think it'll be that short because I suspect there will be a huge showing of fan support, like Koenig (sp? -- Chekov) has suggested. "In the absence of the ruling class, the peasants have picked up the pitch forks and gone on to battle" or whatever. If BOTF2 got completed in a few months, maybe 6, say, with a simple clean site and maybe whatever else makes it easy for critical mass to occur like open source or something, the game could be a huge hit. Not just for the current 1431 forum members here, but maybe for 200,000 other people. THAT gets attention. Throw in fan-made movies (New Voyages for example), and it becomes clear Trek fans are here to stay, we want our 'official' canon fix of new shows. Somebody will see money signs, and next thing you know, we've got a new TV show. It does good, and by season 4 or 5, you get a sister show, followed by another, just as TNG spawned DS9 while it still had a couple seasons left, and just as DS9 spawned VOY as it had a couple seasons left, and as VOY spawned ENT.
Assuming, of course, nobody drops the ball again.
If I had money, I'd actually try to see if anyone was a taker on the bet though I'm really that confident

There are some really good Section 31 books out there, especially the one I think by S.D. Perry..
The books that carried on for DS9 have been pretty good too.
I thought Section 31 was sort of un-trek like too, but I ended up thinking the Dominion War arc was one of the best 3 or 4 season arcs ever

Well as to an update; I won’t be able to give you guys anymore info. They offered my friend a screening, but he has turned them down on it. Due to reasons noted here that they are not backed by Paramount so that there is insurance that it would even pilot to TV. But he did say that the writing of the small screening he did get was poorly done. So this does not look to be going anywhere.

There won't be a new series until Paramount actually creates one. Ofcourse it would be possible if a non-profit thingy would create something for free in their free time and then let it be downloadable on a server or some torrents. But the amount of work to do this for free is just to much.. So nope i guess we have to wait another few years, it's all because of the ENT Haters! . I guess we need a fresh start now.. what about a series about a klingon battlecruiser or something!! 8O 8O 8O

Still think the Romulan Wars need to have an arc, the Ent creators were made not to put it as a story arch.
afterall, the federation would never have formed without Earth Defeating Romulus and impressing the Vulcans etc.
really needs to be told

Serie's about a klingon battlecruiser?? 8O I think the klingon battlecruiser has been showed to much
......Its time for a new ship....a ship build after voyager returned back to earth.....a ship never seen before...... I think all the fans where disappointed that they didn't saw what happend after voyager returned.....what would happen to the borg when there Unicomplex was destroyed.......if the alfa quadrant would reunite after all those wars......I think the fans wanted to see that...and not go back in time.......still I dont understand those (fans) who didnt like Ent......If you liked the original series....you should sjurly like Ent

I think they would loose so much interest if they stared to do one about a diffrent species but something that would be good a captain that isnt human! Most captains i have seen are humans

My personal hope for that now is possibly SciFi Channel (since they do it all the time) picking up the rights to do a mini-series. They did it pretty well with Farscape, and that show was considered dead.. They've been rerunning Firefly, which admittedly is a different animal than buying the rights to make NEW content, but still. I wouldn't expect that for a few years, but it wouldn't surprise me if SciFi picked up the actors, fast-forwarded a little bit, showed us around briefly (Hey, look at the three dozen NX class ships and the scores of Intrepid and Neptune classes!), and then launch in to an epic little war. Three, maybe four two-hour specials? Supposedly there were only a few key, pivotal battles, but thats only of what we know so far.
If that doesn't happen, then the story may never get told..
Maybe they would base a whole TV series on it.. hmm.. Star Trek: The Romulan War.. it wouldn't be traditional trek at all, but I'd sure as hell watch it
Sisko raided Dominion facilities for ketracel-white.
Earth forces raids Romulan facilities for Romulan Ale. Problem with drunken NX and Intrepid crews getting ambushed by Birds of Prey becomes so widespread, along with accidental pregnancies, waking up in the wrong bunk and naked in a jeffreys tube, that Command, followed shortly thereafter by the United Federation of Planets and Starfleet, make it illegal. Perfect fit!
Works for me!

could only do a moderate alien like vulcan in command - it would b expensive to do a klingon from make-up point of view. Worf was an exception, but he wasnt in most of the scenes in most of the episodes. And there werent many severely made up aliens - like a klingon crew.
Nope, there definately wont be a klingon crew. it would be too expensive. and expensive is bad.
