Merry Christmas to all. Your present can be found here:
http://sconline.freecoolsite.com/botf2/BOTF2.html
Now it isnt finished, but this is what the interface is like in my mind. *NOT IN GAVINS*, so it could be very different. A right click will do the same as botf1, also some mouse overs work.
More will come in the future I would like to thank my mate Michael J for getting the java work done .
Note, you will need JRE (Java Runtime Environment) to view it. You can find it here:
http://java.sun.com
It is a bit of a download, so lets hope you already have it
The RCM icons are:
Top Left: Main screen (galaxy)
Top Right: System View (a sun and some planets)
Bottom: Science (a helium atom)
Hope you all enjoy it There will be more to come
Remeber this is not endorsed by gavin, allthough I hope that he can make the interface like this.

that is supposed to be like that. once the mouseovers for the RCM have been worked out, then you will see why it is like that.

My computer's broke! I can't install that java thingy!
Gonna restart my computer from scratch in a few days time, been meaning to for a while anyway.
Computers and Matresses_of_evil don't mix very well...
By the way, what exactly were we supposed to download from that site? There were loads of different versions bundled with god-knows-what!

yer its pretty daunting. you want the most plain version there is.
https://jsecom15k.sun.com/ECom/EComActi ... A901208C5#
and you want the windows offline version.

Meh...still can't install it.
I get an error message saying the "Windows installer service cannot be accessed"
...Sounds serious...
Oh, and several of my games won't run either, so I know i'm gonna have to do something about it.
Ah well, nothing a good total reboot can't fix...
I hope... 8O

its not too serious, but i dont have the time to explain how to fix it. YOu accidentally deleted your windows install dlls - so a complete reisntall of Windows will fix it.

Ye formatting the Hard Drive should help - but you'll have to re install Windows in the process so put all your essential stuff on to disks to you don't loose them

Same difference...
Well at least I knew what I meant!
...
TrekBoy, I <technically> don't need to backup my files, coz i've got a nice program called PC Angel that's built into my computer. It reformats my computer AND backs up my user-created files at the same time!
I'll put the really important stuff (BOTF mods) on a CD - just in case - but thats about it.

I like it. it's just too many boxes in my opinion. there's too much information on the main screen. (the chat doesn't need to have an own window)
i hope you can make the summary-window actually do a summary. in botf1 i often need a summary for the summary
btw. i have a technical problem with java: my firefox loads java, but doesn't show anything. works fine though in internet explorer. i'm no java noob (as i at least tried to participate in DCERs UE project), but i can't explain that

Nice but leaves me somewhat confused. Planets don't appear to take up 1 grid box each. They overlay several at some points. Whats going on with this i thaught we did away with the hexes and readopted the grid format the old botf 1 used?

Last I heard Gavin had decided on a MoO2 style galactic map with no grid whatsoever. If that's the case, and you can only travel directly between star systems, then I assume you would only be able to build starbases within star systems. Anyone have any more information on this topic?

There have only been one or two pictures of the systems interfaces released by Gavin - so the Interfaces that Silvercliff is making are sort of a mish-mash of that original screen.
The only way we will see exactly what it will look like on screen, is if a screen cap is made. Until then, these are all we can go on.
It isn't Silvercliffs fault that it looks the way it is, he's just using what he's been given.
As far as I know, there still won't be any hexes in the game, so there's no need to worry about Systems and Stellar Objects crossing any gridlines.

that is correct, i have been meshing existing images into an interface, so atm i would make any assumptions based on my pics.
also atm i have not doen any more work on the interface. this is because i do not really have an idea about the specifics that are required. in order for me to do more work, i really need a relatively deep knowledge of the game features, which i dont have, and only gavin knows. but when i know, the interface will come together.
