Hopefully this wont start the fanboy war scatter warned us about, but if you look at the technical specs the 360, and compare them to what the ps3 will have, you can see the 360 will definately not be the best. Combine that with the factoid I read that 1 in 8 Xbox 360's are being shipped back to Microsoft because they are not working properly (because they were rushed to be ready in time for x-mas), and I think I know which one I consider to be better.

hopefully not - im not a microsoft fanboy, I use Linux (Redhat 9) for my server, and thus as being a Linux Fanboy, i dont like Windows. But, however i believe that the PS3 is a piece of junk - and the games are crap (other than Squares). Now - delete this thread if you want - i dont want a major argument, but its probally going to happen anyway.

Technical specs arent everything. But if you want to do it that way, then ok - The Xbox has something like 5x more memory bandwidth than the PS3. So that means that the Xbox can send information 5x faster from the harddrive to the video card. (correct me if im wrong, thats what i was told). And thats a LOT more importand than a couple mhz in the processor.

microsoft has the best programmers in the world. Thus, logically, they can make the best software for a gaming console. Software is more important than hardware. If you have cappy software but great hardware, its absolutely terrible. But if your behind a bit in hardware, but have excellent software, you succeed in having better video, gameplay, multiplayer online, ect.

my 360 has had no problems whatsoever, and ive had it running for the last 48 hours. My other 8 friends with them also have had no problems, and are having a blast. Everyplace i look say that as long as you dont let them overheat, your fine. That means that you dont let them sit in the sun (hoiztontally) ontop and beneth your sattilite box or dvd player. Give it room to breath, and your fine.

have fun with your PS3 and how many good games...? not many... just grand turismo 5 and mabye a couple others.

Personally i'm with the XBOX 360 on the sole fact that the XBOX was generally way better than the PS2 therefore i feel the XBOX will be the better console for me - when i buy it in a few months

Though both consoles are very good and which ever you choose you won't regret it

True, the revolution is "revolutionary" - and im getting it for one reason

it plays ALL old Nintendo games - and i want to play chrono trigger again - and not on an emulator. But the revolution still doesnt compare to the 360, but it still beats PS3 (even the N64 beats the PS3 (in my opinion) )


now, the PC is the best out of all three - i do have to agree with Silvercliff

sony arnt stupid, lets see what they produce on our desks before we draw any final comparisons. XBOX is my choice also as ive already modded mine and got it running at a m8s as a console and entertainment system. IF the new xbox will be that moddable then i shall have to splurg my final student loan installment... ah student loans... only 20quid interest a month on 10grand..... f*ck.....

i think sony will go down with a bang. They had the last couple of months problems with drm. Blue-ray is getting lesser people behind it, due to microsoft supporting hd-dvd and hp stepping back. I truly want HVD (much better)!!! And i think that the PS3 will get a big succes in Japan but nowhere else. Now revolution will sell really good, because it's cheap and revolutionair. Don't know who will end on spot 1, 2 or 3, though.

The console market is a bigger market then the PC game market, as i'm aware of. Sure graphics might look better, although i doubt you would notice the difference with xbox360. I don't presume you have a HD-LCD /HD-Plasma screen for your PC? I will just say that PC games won't own Consoles and Consoles won't own PC games. They are two different markets.

PS3 will probally be the most powerful console, let's just hope that developers will learn to handle the difficulties surrounding the PS3 cores. btw, i actually hate the ps3...

tons of 3rd party game developers (square enix for example) have dumped PS3 after comparing the 360 and the PS3. I think Sony is probally panicing right now, cause the only good PS/PS2 games were 3rd party to begin with (in my opinion)

You're right, they arent. And after reading the link in your post, I realized I was a little off in my hardware specs (I hadnt bothered to look at either console's specs in months). But the 360's very real heat problem (something Sony took care of with the PS2, funny how Microsoft couldnt get it quite right with their new console... oh thats right, the production was rushed so it would be out for christmas ) is already one blemish on its new console. But what you said after is also quite right. Hardware doesnt mean squat if it doesnt have good software to back it up. Granted Microsoft does have some of the best people to work for them, but if you think Sony is any kind of slouch in that department, you've got another thing coming.
This is the first I've heard of that, so I tried to go to Square Enix's offical site to find some news on it. Didnt see a word about it. I continued looking, and the only thing I found that had anything to do with what you said was a blurb about FFXI will be released for the 360 about 2-3 years after it was released on PS2 and PC.

Actually, thats not true, I just looked a little more, and found this http://www.square-enix.com/jp/company/e ... e_051118en In it it says that SquareEnix has made no concrete decisions about where some of its flagship titles, including the final fantasy series will be going.

The final thing that makes me doubt what you said about FF and the 360 is from the Dec 05 issue of PSM. In it, on page 15, they list many titles that are being worked on for the PS3. The one that caches my eye is the one under Square Enix called [untitled] Final Fantasy.

First off, look at the launch titles for 360. One word comes to mind, Ha! I've played a good couple at a friends, and they are not that good. Half of them are even out for the PS2. I know many more are on the way, and I'm sure a good many will be great, the same goes for the PS3. Some of the games I'm loking forward to trying once the PS3 is out (many, but not all are PS3 exclusives) are Resident Evil 5, Metal Gear Solid 4, Devil May Cry 4, Armored Core 4 (alot of fours ) Gran Turismo 5, Unreal Tournament 2007, WarHawk, Lair, Project Assassin, and of course that untitled FF.

But when it comes down to it, what we're arguing about is, for the time being, pointless. Until the 360, Ps3, and I suppose the Revolution all come out and have been going for awhile, only then will we be able to look, and see who the winner (if any) trully is.

Sorry for the double post, but I just thought I'd add that its not like I'm trully pro Playstation, and anti xbox. If I had the money to buy all of the systems and games I wanted, perhaps i'd ave a different view. But I only have so much money, and need to pick who I think will be the winning team. If we look back on the numbers of systems and games sold in the last 2 generations of gaming consoles PS beat N64 and Dreamcast, and Ps2 beat XBox and Gamecube. I have seen nothing so far that would make me believe that the trend will change.

sorry Rigel but the only reason to get a PS2 over an XBOX was that there were more games - half of which you'd never play anyway

Hey, no need to apologize, im not out to bite off someones head. Even if its hard to tell in online communication, most of my arguments (including this one) are playful in nature. If I was really pissed in my arguments, you guys could probably figure it out.

Its true, Xbox has some great games that arent available anywhere else, and their Live was is much better than Ps2 online (but personally, playing online is not a big deal to me, cause neither xbox or ps has done it thatwell, or with that many good games). Those are the only reasons I can see that Xbox was better.

But the numbers dont lie, and many people in the US disagreed. In the states, Sony has sold 34 million ps2. Microsoft only sold rougly 14 million xboxs. I think I know who won this generation of the console war.

Reasons why i liked the xbox over ps2 is:

1. xbox had hdd for save games, finally no save game cards like psx/psx2.
2. Halo is a great game.
3. Gfx where a bit better on xbox due to better technology and faster hardware.
4. Modable.


The only thing ps2 had going for it was the gran turismo series, backward compatability with ps1 games, controlers where widly accepted as good controlers. GTA games came out for ps consoles generally before other platforms. Oh and the ps2 had far more games out but most were same games of other games as in lots of repeats just slightly diff. Where the xbox brough out new games like Fable.

I also liked the xbox controler, tho before i played on a xbox i judged the controler by looks and thought it was massive and bulky and swore by psx controlers. Yet i was wrong, the xbox was far better i think personally. Specially the tiger woods 2004 on xbox with white button for spin and other games use for them new coloured little buttons.

So im ok at mo untill revolutions comes out

now, Square Soft (now Square Enix) made a ten year contract with Sony in 1995. Before 1995, they released all their games on the Super Nintendo and NES (Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasies). It was a ten year contract, and tthats why all the latest FF games came out on the PS. I had a press release i found in mid June 2005 that clearly stated that Square Enix will probally be releasing the FF series on all systems. This was proven, when Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles was released on the GameCube. If their contract did not end in 2005, then this could not have been done, because Square's contract was to make games ONLY for Sony.

Is Square Enix anything to do with a company called Enix? They made a game on the SNES called Illusion of Time (Known Illusion of Gaia outside of UK)

I've never heard of the company other than in that game, so I was just wondering. It was a cool game - although there was waaaay too much talking in it!
