I don't even bother with .BMP, TrekBoy - this site doesn't support them!
...
By the way, your avatar is cool, Ashur. How did you make it?
I made mine with Microsoft Paint and a program called GIF Movie Gear 4.0.

i 'stole' the background from a wallpaper, i think from deviant.art
i can't remember the font, but i did it with adobe photoshop (6.0 i think), the effect must have been very easy to use - i'm not very experienced with PS.

Heh...remembering back, I didn't even make my Romulan - Jigalypuff made it as a joke for me. He changed my avatar a few months ago to this:
I then created this:
And he subsequently changed it to this:
The writing is so small that it took me a few days to notice the difference. (Remember it was as an avatar so it was shrunk down to 150x91 pixels - not 591x339 pixels as it currently is)
Anyways, I took the Romulan and made my avatar. I also created this as a thankyou for him:

Yeah, it's a possibility, but like I said, i've sorted it.
At least we've all got the avatars we want now.
If the avatar was to get too big in the distant future, we can think of having a still one then - and even there's always the possibility of us all having stills instead of moving ones - that would greatly extend the number of people that can be added to the avatar.
But all that's in the distant future. My new filehost can hold files up to 3 times bigger than the avatar already is, so we won't have problems for quite a while.
...
I'm surprised that you haven't seen that picture before, TrekBoy - I thought I posted it before somewhere...?
I must've only sent it in the PM to Jig to say thanks...
...
Right then, update TrekBoy?
I'm on 186/250. Its taking forever!
Oh, and i've just found out that there are work units that are worth MORE than 600 points!
Just look at Protein numbers (The column furthest to the left in the link below) 2363, 2362, 2361, 2359, 2355, and 2352!
http://fah-web.stanford.edu/psummary.html
Tut i'm only getting 600 points for my current unit...

Now you know how I feel TrekBoy!
...
Billy, TrekBoy posted the link a page or two ago - but here it is:
http://fah-web.stanford.edu/psummary.html
...
Welcome to the group Ashur. I just wanted to check though - has something gone wrong with folding@home for you?
I've never seen a work unit that was only worth 3 points, and i've also noticed that I have mysteriously also gained 3 points from out of nowhere as well! (I had 4141 points as of 11 o'clcok this morning - I now have 4144 points... )
Did you enter the info right?
Make sure you have enetered Ashur_botf_ii in the name box on the first tab of the configuration settings, and put 46574 in the second.
If they're right...then...err...

Thanks Jig, but i've sorted it out for now.
My new webhoster can hold 1.5meg files, so that'll keep us going for quite a while.
Again, thanks for the offer - i'll take you up on it when the avatar does get too big for it's boots, but until that time comes, it's fine as it is.
Billy, I have no idea what is going on with your results - has anyone else borged your computer?
I've double checked my own stats, and it definitely says that i've completed a work unit today...strange...
I guess they've been having some problems or summat...

As far as a member showing up under multiple teams, you'll all have noted there wasn't a member registration form to fill out.. I could call myself Captain Billy Bacon folding for Flying Nuns of the Monestary Team or whatnot, and that's what would show up. Nothing stopping me from folding for any of you guys, either -- just a quick change to the config file and the points would start pouring in.
There is no setting as far as I know to tell the console version to only run, say, at night, etc. It runs 100% of the time because Stanford understands it WILL yield processor and RAM when asked by ANY other application. I've noticed on my dual-core processor that sometimes Windoze gets confused and let two processor intensive apps (like two winrar compressions running at once) to use all of one core yet let F@H run on the other unmolested.. minor hicup, and only an issue with an Athlon X2 or a Pentium D.
There IS a setting limiting the % of processor use.. I set my lappy to 85% for example because I don't like it being so hot to the touch. Thats not quite the same thing though.
The only way I can see the console giving grief to other apps is if the system is 512mb of RAM or less, which might have a hard enough time keeping the OS in RAM much less caching around for F@H. Even then, I'd think F@H console wouldn't cause any trouble, maybe just lag itself a bit. I dunno.
Now the GUI is a whole other animal. I've got little experience with it, since I never liked the idea of it wasting time rendering an image and loading a GUI in to memory when all I cared about was pumping out WU. I wouldn't think they'd have it quite so pristine and bug free -- the native one they develop is the linux console version. The further you get from that (Windows console, followed by different GUIs like OS X), the less the quality I imagine would be.. but thats just a guess.
And Ashur, welcome to the team!! Add yourself to the other thread with "Borg to...ghz" in the title if ya haven't already.
And yeah, Bogseat has come out of no where! He's catching on EuropeKid slowly, might end up upsetting the top 5 a bit.

Ooh, and some mystery points might be coming from what we call "point dumps"
I think Stanford gets behind on validating some submitted WUs, that or updating the stats, and sometimes randomly updates things.. and sometimes takes huge dumps, enough to make stats pages think you've doubled your points per day temporarily.
Dont really know why it happens, but ya'll will see it now and then
Oh, and we're about to break in to the 2000s!

We've made it into the 2,000's!
We're currently ranked 2986, and we have 50839 points. Team 2000 currently has 91660 points, so we've also gotten past the halfway mark!
Now then, WHO IS COOKIEE AND BOGSEAT?!!!

Well based on the current points etc. and 2250 points per day, then:
91901 - 52549 = 39352
39352 / 2250 = 17 days - so just over two weeks.
Like Ringold said a few days ago, I'm also starting to be a bit doubtful about our ppd - i've been keeping score for the past week, and it's averaging out to more like 1630 ppd, not 2250 - even with HHornblower, Mortse, MStrobel, and Ashur joining the cause recently.
So based on that amount, it would be:
39352 / 1630 = 24 days.
So either way, give it 3 and-a-bit weeks and we'll definitely be on extremeoverclocking.com.

...Pretty much most people can make that connection Billy...
The main reason why i'm putting all this effort into folding@home is coz its being done to further medical research. The program could one find a cure for Cancer, or something monumental like that.
It could be you, your wife, your husband, kid, mother, father, whoever - that relies on the cure one day. The cure you could help to create.
Personally, I don't see why there isn't some law that says you must make sure that you run the program EVERY time you turn a computer on...

Like I said, i've been keeping track of the team's stats in detail for the past week.
As a team, we've gained 11411 points and completed 95 work units. We also gained 397 places.
That works out to an average of 1630.1 points from 13.6 work units per day.
Good work, guys, at our current rate, we should beat team 2000 in just over 22 days time.

hmmm, and I wonder how much this team 2000 is increasing everyday? Or the teams that occupy position 2000 day to day I guess would be the case... Have you checked how much they're gaining per day?
