This might belong in the request forum, but I thought it fit here.
I posted a thread recently regarding top priorities, basically I asked what everyone's 3 top requests were.
Everyone who replied had a larger galactic map as TOP priority! My question really is, do we know yet how the map will compare to say botf? I think I speak for everyone when I say a bigger map is more important than graphics or shiplist, it has always been the holy grail amongst botf modders.
The worst thing with even a large map in botf was the fact that empires completely filled the map, by the time you can build a galaxy you can't send it out to explore as there are enemy in all directions, so it just becomes another warship.
I've said it a thousand times but thanks to everyone who's working on this project.

I think that Gturfrey said something about a map generator. It worked for him to create 25-50 star systems now. I don't doubt it that it will grow better in the comming months. (at least i hope so)

If the game is going to be this massive then in the end people would perhaps like a bigger map. But in the beginning this would be just great Really Good job and Thank You

Yes, if a big map is possable then prehaps that should be done once all else is finisshed. But for the Demo/test it best to keep it simple

I didn't want to list all my hardware, but it looks like I've got no choice!
Back to the subject, I guess the problem with botf was that the map was locked in the large saze and couldn't be modded. I guess the beuty of this game is that gturfrey can add to it later.
If the map is big enough, it should fill more than the screen, and you have to scroll to see the really far out parts. Maybe a max zoom out that shows the whole thing, but you can't really move much around etc.
One other important thing while I think, the two views in botf aren't good enough. The far away view renders everything small, and you can't move things around effectively. The close in view shows virtually none of the systems.
Cheers for the response.
