3 Weeks till it comes out Galactic Civ 2 here I've been beta testing it so I know the game quite well.

It is a huge game, and it can have up to 5000 planets or something around that number. makes for a really huge game.

And its totally moddable. with the game files being in .XML .PNG and .X I know .XML and .PNG are fairly easy, havent got a clue about .X though :-)

The AI in thr game is awesome, probably one of the best ever made for a game. So if a BOTF mod was made for it. it would not be easy to beat ;-)

The only one downside is that its single player only currently. though there are talks about a multiplayer expansion. but that depends how many people want it.

I highly recommend the game if you like Turn Based Strategy Games

i have galciv2 at home, so i can play it. Anyway why isn't there an option for multi? doesn't the game have it?

About the AI, i have a feeling that they are cheating like ----. BIG handicap and such.

nah. the A.I is follows the same rules as the player. they just have more strategy options available the higher the levels you play at.

GC1 was the same, GC2 will just be better.

you cant get an AI to counter your fleet buildups with there own buildup and then send a 2nd wave to attack your empire from a weakspot by cheating or giving them different handycaps.

AI = designed using tactics players use, I havcent played against the full AI yet. looking forward to the release on the 21st for that.

I still think a BOTF Mod for GalCiv would be cool tho. cause there are huge amounts of options available. And the Interface is designed to be moddable.

As for Multiplayer, They had a choice because they are an independant developer/publisher, to have either multiplayer or a decent ship design system. Ship Design adds more to the enjoyment of everyone. Whereas Multiplayer adds fun to only those who play Multiplayer. They will create an expansion if enough people want it.

Tho tbh. I dont think GC2 + Multiplayer + Gigantic Map would ever finish. It'd take 2-3 Months to complete lol

The first game was great and from what i've seen so far, GalCiv 2 will be a lot of fun...and it will have a great AI.
Also the game will have long support...so i'd say it's worth it.

Now if there only a Star Trek mod....

I've been keeping my eye on this one. It certainly does look good, and ideal for a Trek mod.

space empires 5 , looks better than gal civ 2 and is coming out soon, but its more similar to masters of orion, plus the company making space empires is in talks about making master of orion 4 and creating it like the feel of master of orion 2, not that crappy attempt in what was masters of orion 3

Interface looks managable. Gfx look awsome and as far as i have seen the combat might be in 3d or at least close to it. It looks very good but i would have loved mp for it cos i play games all the time with a mate and this would be ideal to play mp with him. Hope they make a exp pack with mp in.

Will try out gal civ 2 when its out tho looks fun. Kinda reminds me of Imperial Galactica 2.

I thought Stardock (GalCiv2) was in talks for Master of Orion 4....

While i also look forward to SEV, i think that GalCiv2 has better graphics.

The graphics are about 10 years behind on even the soon to be released Space Empires V. There user interface sucks as well. If they had a proper modern streamlined and easy to use interface with todays gfx or at least botf1 level gfx space empire games would be cool. But as they are i just couldnt play it as it wasnt fun and was awkard to get into with way too much stuff scattered about.
