Has anyone heard from Gavin? Hows things progressing?
I know that this is supposed to be in the proper sticky, but i did post in there. Also having looked through the pics on the post there i noticed that there were alot of ships missing that still need to be done.
Ive done project management before guys, and although i dont have as much experience than im sure some other guys have here, id like to offer my services as kinda the co-ordinator, as to be honest there doesnt seem to be any. Could i suggest that all the modellers and Gavin and whoever would be co-ordinating meet up on IRC and discuss the free time they have available and see if we can assign tasks (ships etc) to be done with deadlines etc.
To do this we need a complete census of what has been done modeling etc, and what still needs finished. I hope im not sounding like a jerk, but im trying to be constructive, alot of projects fail because of lack of leadership, and while ive been here, the closest thing to a leader for this site ive seen is Jig. ( I apologise if this is not the case)
So in short what i suggest we do is:
1. Census ships and stations, with Work in Progress, Done, Yet To Be Done.
2. Census modellers with skill, and if nessary try and bring weaker modellers upto a greater standard. (from my own experience, teaching helps the teacher as much as the pupil)
3.Collect all the soft copies.
4.Agree with the modellers on what the can do and when they can do it for.
5.Assign the tasks out
6.Get the results and post.
But i believe this should be done privately and results be posted. This forum is full of useless chat, and messages get lost etc. MSN meet or IRC with only the relevent people would be the best way.
This is a long post and i dont think flaming is appropriate in this thread unless it is a moderator.
Thank you

well i`ve not spoken to gavin since xmas. as for what needs to be done ship wise, not a lot, all the cardassian and fed ships i sent to gavin already, klingons are not finished nor the roms, the dominion are way behind, and only a few minor race vessels are completed. however without gavin letting us know whats going on then this is kinda pointless.

It would be nice to know exactly what has to be done and exactly what has already been done, not only for the developers but for the fans as well. I bet there are plently of fans in the 1000's we have here who could offer help to the team if they know what the game needs help wise to finially be complete. I understand that the programmer would want as little help from the outside as possible so as not to confuse two peoples codes and im sure gavin would want to make sure everything is perfect in that area himself. Things like ship designs could be organised and interfaces as well.

i dont want to knock him, but to put it short the problem is gavin. he is a very busy man, and that makes him very difficult to communicate with. its hard, and even harder to set up a system of communication between the devs at this stage of the project. again i am not blaming gavin, but unfortunately that is the biggest hurdle to jump atm.

I was trying to collect all data and create a team, but it's just not possible. We need more info from Gavin to accomplish this. Now i know that Davidz is still continuing work on a large collection of 3d models for the game. I only have to talk to gav and see what the current status is and what needs to be done.
