This sounds really cool, but I'm having a problem opening it. When I try to click on the intro.exe file, it tells me "Can't compile script" with an error in the background saying, "Can't open intro.WDL," then right below it, "Can't run intro.WDL." I'm not sure what any of that means.

open the folder you extracted the files to, there should be 2 wdl files there, they are both script files, it does work cos mattie of evil pm`d me with a different complaint about the transparency.

good first draft of the fed gui, found some problems, like corruption on title screen when you place the mouse over certain areas, and in some screens the characters on screen still show the background behind them, these are just beta testing observations and a little of the programming experience i got at college and university
but all in all a very good beta fed gui

Ritter, I had the same problem as you when I tried to make a shortcut to the program. As Jig said, make sure the .exe file is in the same folder, as the other files, or it won't work.
Heh, there are people in the downloads section now...
Raiden, the corruption on the title screen is the "complaint" that I PM'd Jig about. He thinks he knows how to sort it out, so there's no need to worry.
Mattie of evil Jig? That's a new one. Most people call me MOE or simply matress.

AHHH! Doesnt work for me!!!!
Damn! The screen just flickers and the resolution goes around a bit, and then XP gets angry.
i bet it looks good though
-edit-
a quick question. That EXE was built using the Contec A6 3D Game Maker program. I have it, and i know that you cannot add C and C++ Code (but you can use C-Script). Please... correct me if im wrong. I thougt this was going to be programmed entirely from scratch in C++ and .NET.

General, i've encountered that particular error myself when me and Ashur tried to fix the glitchy title screen ourselves.
Have you tried changing the resolution in-program? (Press F5)
If that doesn't work, then try you could try replacing the file called intro.pcx - me and Ashur tried altering this file in MS Paint to see if we could fix the graphical error. It worked, but the end result looks terrible! (We filled in the broken bits with solid colour)
I'm in the middle of doing it properly at the moment, and the results are promising. Obviously it's gonna take me a while to do coz i'm doing it by hand. When it's done, people can ask me for the file or i'll put it up for download or something.
*Edit - Yes!
I think i've definitely fixed it. The bottom-right hand corner was a bugger to sort out, coz the problems kept returning, but i've managed to fix them now.
I haven't quite completed filling in the colour yet (You can still see some LCARS in the background) but I should be finished some time time tonight. I can't continue it now coz i've got uni.

no panic please if your main menu screen glitches
i doubt there is any code in it from the actual game, it's just meant as a preview
the intel screen for example is not more than a screenshot from the game, i presume.
but it looks brilliant anyway

@ General_Nemitor the a6 engine can be coded in c-script, c or c++.
at the rest of you, some of the glitches are caused cos my system is so crappy i cannot actuall see the transparency at all, what i will do is use a lighter black so the nthere will be no transparency, apart from the galactic map of course, i need that transparent for my super duper idea.

What, so my fixed version isn't good enough for you Trekboy?!
As you might have guessed, i've finished recolouring the main screen, and I sent it to Trekboy. (I also sent it to Biily and Ashur)
I've got rid of the LCARS bits, but the cursor still glitches if you move it over the bottom-right hand side of the screen.
Must be a programming error or something...
Anyways, before and after...
Should I put the file up for download on the site Jig, or are you gonna update the program?

I've managed to completely fix the graphical errors on the main screen now - the cursor doesn't glitch in the bottom-right-hand corner anymore either!
Do you want me to send you the file, Jig? You won't have to recolour it yourself then...

Well I sent the file to Jig, so it'll probably be included in the update he promised.
I know you're enjoying the lack of glitches already though, Ashur.

I'm a little late to the party, but looking good!
For the purposes of beta testing, since probably I'm the only one or one of few using it, I can confirm it worked fine on Windows x64.
From the perspective of making the game work, will Vista pose any challenges? I'm going to go out on a limb and say that 95% of Vista sales will be 64bit, but that doesnt necessarily mean anything for development, with 'WOW' 32bit compatibility proving its worth with the gui test, but will Vista in general make you guys change much? Or should a game made for XP probably install just fine on Vista?
Or has MS been quiet enough on it nobody has much idea yet?
I could download and install a beta version to help test with some time in the future I guess too if needed. wouldnt be suprised if someone on the forums doesn't already have it (bugs, warts and all)

I believe the game is based largely on .NET, so as long as it's compiled for 'Any CPU' it should run fine on any 32-bit or 64-bit version of XP or Vista. The only hangup would be if he's using explicit struct layouts anywhere, in which case he'd have to release two versions: one with an x86 target platform, the other x64.

i had Vista Beta 1 - it was very good. I liked it a lot. And most XP programs i installed, even drivers, worked fine!
