MOE you're evil. My current work units 2057 and its got 5000 frames but its only work 129 points!!!! It will be done tomorrow tho, on about 4300 now.

Possibly missed the 1000ppd cause... i.. maybe.. turned off folding to do some work (messes with multithreading on occasion), and it was off for about 2 days each core of my X2 does about 200ppd for about 400ppd total..

except this one beautiful WU right now, a gromacs worth 404 points, getting 300ppd

You have a real reason to be jealous now, Authur - i'm doing p2107...which is a 20000 frame unit...and is worth 404 points!

I've so far done 693/20000 frames, and it takes about 19 seconds to do each frame. It'll take me another 4 days and 8 hours of solid folding to complete though...

Comeon guys! Get a move on! We dropped down to 831 ppd yesterday. Let's try to get back on track soon. How's everyone's WU's comming along?

TrekBoy, you could explain to your bro that it wont consume any more bandwidth that visiting this very forum would. Take a look at the logs of the compressed WU sizes -- really very small. DL's a very small WU, works on it for hours, and then sends a very small result (compressed before transmission probably) back.

The person REALLY sucking up bandwidth on a university would be ...... me. Sitting in the library, sucking down 1000kb/s and pushing up 300kb/s over the university wifi =)

I've never heard of anyone needing to ask permission to put it on a personal computer in the dorm room anyway. If he went ahead and installed it, nobody would know.

I think broad-band enabled computers sneeze random data packets larger then that, so tell him not to worry

Try some of the other clients, that might help

I sometimes find that to get a program to work, I have to restart my computer after i've uninstalled a program, but before I reinstall it - even if it doesn't ask me to.

You could try doing that.

You could also try installing one of the slightly older versions of the folding client, or you could try the text-only version.

And if that still doesn't work, like Trekboy said, you could always try another program, eg. Seti@home.
