Maybe Moe, he was "your" major payne (pain) lol.
But seriously I knew him well knew of him and chatted once or twice about his borg insurection or somit mods for armarda 1 and 2. They grew to very large mods as well. Think he did alot of other stuff too.

Yeah, I know that he mods games. It's the name that i'm on about though, not the person.
Edit - I know why it sounds familiar now. You guys would never have guessed who it was anyway.
It was an old nickname for a friend that I haven't seen in almost 10 years...

ok
here is what the model looks like currently. it is NOT completed - and I have to do some poly reduction still.
Tell me what you think, and if there needs to be anything changed.
Advice is good!

I've added in a link to this new picture, General.
Don't forget to ask Razorsedge about texturing it...
It's looking good. It's a bit difficult to see the model (I prefer solid ships rather than wireframes ) but it sure looks like it is close to completion. Keep up the good work.

Next screen, which will be with some texturing (im experimenting) will have all sides solid.
Thanks for adding the link.
Due to finals on tues and wednesday next week, I SHOULD have it done by... friday. (as you know, I suck at determining when I get stuff done. It will be done when it will be done.)

Not bad.
The nacel sections dont curve to the back as it looks like you have made them in the top view. The nacelles sections need a beveled in section on front of nacelles and a red engine section placed there, for when you get around to that bit.
Overall shape looks ok. Keep up the good work.
PS...
Them things them square bits on top of nacelle/main section i dont think should be there as i cant remember them being on original defiant. Plus the top section doesnt look correct, some close up shots of top at a angle and the naceleles would be helpful.

well, the models finished, other than texturing.
I have made the changes, and fixed a lot of inaccuracies.

I've updated the list, then.
Don't forget if you can't be bothered to texture the ship, let RazorsEdge know and he'll have a go for you. Just remember to send him the texture maps with the model.
Got any screenies?

I prefer the originals you did, Fireball!
I've updated the thread and included your Constellation as a WIP.

origionals as in origional series?
dont worry, just wait until i'm fininshed
lol, i've made som pretty good tmps in the past...I think?
there is no aztec yet (except on the top part of the saucer as you can see)
and everything is either colourful, or textured and cartoony (no aztecs yet)

last update until exams and other stuff are done
this update is mostly small details.
Still no hull plating applied to anything (ecept the upper saucer part)
it's not much of an update, but all the little dots and stuff like that takes a long long time.

Not bad
Could use a wee bit more polys on saucer if possible for smoother saucer but apart from that, looking good there FB.

The origional one did, but jig nailed me for being way over on the poly limit.
I'm going to remake my nacelles later, i'm not satisfied with them, but if I can free up some polys i'll do it.
Though I reckon i've taken out a bunch of details already, i dont know if theres any place but the nacelles to free up polys. (i'm at 2556 I think)
But your right, I noticed that...it would look much better with a smoother saucer.
you think you could give me advice on makeing tmp nacelles? I noticed you had some really nice ones..

Start with a low poly cylinder and modify the hell out of it. Bevel bits in and out to get the details and some details add low poly bits on to nacelle.
The most important part of making fed models is to always having a smooth as you can make saucer. Any other part of the ship can be more lower poly as there smaller generally than saucer plus saucer is more visable at longer view distances.

everything is under 100 polies, except the nacelles, the saucer and the red bridge thing, but thats around 100-130 I think.
I've got a problem with my nacelles, i think theyre 300 polies each, and for that many polies, they look like **** to me.
I'm going to work them over after i fininsh most of the textures.

Well you could shave off some polys on the bridge sections as there looking too smooth i think.
I can make a reasonable low poly of bridge sections for 124 poly as shown. Try to do somit like that. If urs is lower than mine then good work. But im thinking 200-300 polys urs is.
Dont forget to merge polys to make larger triangle polys than lots of smaller ones. And merge points if needed to make the larger traingle polys.
Btw dunno if u have this link but found it useful to get good look at saucer and nacelles. click me linky
Also a tip about nacelles. You might be best off removing the beveled features like at the top of the top set of nacelles. And texture in the detail instead. Each nacelles shouldnt be more than 150-200 each then.

174 for the red thing
all of it together, 234
the saucer is 592
thats probably unacceptable...maybe I will try and reduce the number of height segments or something?
especially on the bottom
edit nacelles are 320 each
so those are the two things i have to reduce
i'm going to try and keep as much detail as I can while trying to get as low poly as I can..
i'll get to work on it...after saturday

Don't forget to keep a backup or something before you start hacking out the polies - if you're gonna make a high-poly mod, then you'll be glad you don't have to rebuild the model after demolishing it!

i remembered that a little too late
but all thats missing is a high detailed saucer, which would really only take me 5-10 minutes to do again

slowly working...
not much changed, just darkened (bigger contract between grey and colour), added a light and sharpened a bit.

Light is a bit bright and is covering too much of the saucer front. Its only supose to cover the registry so aim for less brightness and focus it more.
