Hey MOE, just a couple of things,
I dunno about the troop transport, but i've got a tos one from my armada II mod, I personally dont think it's botf II caliber, but if the design goes through i'm sure it wouldnt be hard to rebuild.
Also, the Hermes appears to simply be a Saladin, i'll take a closer look later and make any required adjustments, but It looks very simular, so you can count that as fininshed, i'll provide pics when I get around to makeing sure it's all right.
I've got the TOS constituion so I might as well snag the tmp one aswell
I'm also *slowly* working on a galaxy, so I might aswell jot myself down to the very simular Nebula class too.
God i'm giving myself a lot of work I get it done in due time

Ok then, i'll update the thread to say that so-and-so model will "probably be made by Fireball".
Na, I wouldn't do that to you...would I?
Oh, for the Transport, which one do you mean? Each race has three of them. The Feds have the Phobos, London, and Yorkshire classes. If the model is ok, you could probably get away with giving it new textures or something. It's up to you.
Oh, and don't forget to maek screenies for people to see! There's almost no point in this thread otherwise!

okay people, remodeled much of the ship, came out with a saucer that had more sides (smoother) but lower polies.
Remade the nacelles, theyre way more accurate, and theyre a tiny bit higher poly than the crap ones that were on there before
All in all, after all said and done, I had 100 polies to spare from 2500, compared to being slightly over last time. So I think this is a good result.
Thanks to skeeter for giving me a couple of tips on the nacelles and bridge section. This saving of polies (intitially 200-300) allowed me to put some of the old details back.

It now looks less "choppy" when textured, which means i'm getting the desired result. I'll be working on the texture during the next while then.
edit - forgot the pic
here ya go

Well done on the optimisation.
If you want you can send me the untextured version and i will try to remove some polys futher? If you want me to.

Wow, somone's been busy!
I can tell this model is gonna be a beauty. It's a shame we have to lose the original colourful paint job though...
Shiplist updated.

I did the grueling detail on the sies now...
that took forever...
i've never seen a ship with such a random placement with lights, it was hard to get all of this right.

Okay, heres a preview of the fininshed version. I'm not showing it in full light, because:
A: I want to tease you
B: I have texture issues to fix in two places (nacelles, and near the front extruded shuttlebay.)
Though I could easily let it pass and it would still look alright, I cant do that.
This ship took a long time! Here comes the tease!

Your teasing is actually much appreciated, Fireball! I LOVE those pics!
I want to know how you make them as well, coz they're just amazing. It really makes it look like the ship is gliding through the cold, dark, vastness of space.
Add in a Star or three, and you've got yourself a nice little Star Trek scene there. The top one especially looks like she's in a hurry to get somewhere...or is preparing to make an attack run...

Just wanted to say that I`m remaking the Yorkshire and London transports, so I will be posting the pics soon. I will also try and texture them (miracle from the heavens ) with Ultimate Unwrap 3d to see what I can come up with...

Cool!
There's no rush though, Janus, so take your time. The game is still months or even years off, so just keep working at it until you're happy with the model.

Hmm..
I'm willing to take on the Vor'cha (b.t.w. - do you need another, more advanced looking model for the upgrade?)
I?ll look up some other models later to do. I'm VERY fast when it comes to modeling b.t.w. so I might have it ready tomorrow.
altough don't take that for granted..as you can see, I'm modding a lot of other games and I'll have to take a little trip for a few days

I just recalled that Major Pain, a Armada modder has a whole range of nicely modeled starships.
why not ask him to contribute?
Hell, I'll go ask him...

Major Pain...I know that name...didn't he used to post on the forums?
I think Jig's mentioned him before as well...
Anyways, anything you can contribute will be excellent. Send any completed models to Jigalypuff, and make some screenies of the model (Rendered or screen captures from your modelling program, I honestly don't mind) so I can post them in the thread.
There's still no word from Jade or Fireball about their models...

I e-mail Payne and asked him if he would be willing to contribute some of his work to the project, or at least allow us to use some of the textures..
b.t.w. - I have a "finished" model of the Galaxy (untextured) in case Fireball doesn't do it.
anyway, I'm working on the Vor'Cha and Vor'Cah (upgraded) as we speak.
I'm focusing more on the advanced version since Major Payne has a excellent Vor'Cha model allready and if he sez yes we can use that one..or I cna make a slightly more detailed one... his is 1200 polys or something and it's using 5 textures..
Which reminds me - I need to know specific:
1. how many textures per ship?
2. Texture sizes, color depth, format?
3. Can the negine handle glued/attached parts (intersecting polygons)?
4. Are the hardpoints specified inside the 3D program or externally (I'd like ot set up the ship commpletely, so all you need to do is convert)?

Ok, here's hte Klingon advanced attack cruiser (if anyone is interested).
The "normal" attack cruiser is going nicely too.
I also have a transport of some sorts:
I'm also making a Romulan ship, but have you though of including the Kerchan and Nierrh classes in that list? They both rock.

nice mesh i`m guessing 5000 polys, which is to high for a main cruiser which would get built a lot, i also know map and have his permission to use a lot of his meshs should the need arise, of course i`m repaying him with severel sg meshs lets see her textured with say a 2000 poly count.

That klingon battleship is 1900 polys...without optimization of any sort.
I expect to loose at least 100 polys without any loos of detail at all once I attack/glue/weld and manually shot vertices around
Here's the Romulan Cruiser concept (MAP's Nieerh is in the backgound, if you have his permission, USE IT!:
Also, a comparison of my Vor'Cha and Major A Payne's:
Can't tell the difference? Mine is the untextured one, and BTW - I used his a template so they are EXACTLY the same. Use his though - it's textured!

Allmost forgot I need an answer ot this one before I cna start texturing:
1. how many textures per ship?
2. Texture sizes, color depth, format?
3. Can the negine handle glued/attached parts (intersecting polygons)?
4. Are the hardpoints specified inside the 3D program or externally (I'd like ot set up the ship commpletely, so all you need to do is convert)?[/b]

2000 polys seems to be the limit that people have been mentioning on the forums. "Special" ships that won't appear very often during the course of a normal game or won't be built en-masse can go a bit higher though.
To be honest, i'd like the other questions answered myself though. I'll add the answers to my shiplist post once Jig or someone replies to it for future reference.
Nice models by the way, trashman! If you have any models that you can't think of a name for, then look through the list and find a model that hasn't been built yet and use that name. Make sure the model looks like it fits in with the right time though - we don't want situations with "Warbirdesque" vessels in Enterprise era!
