Lol Billy is our new Ringold!
I'd love to know how you managed to do that. Uni and work would rather throttle me than risk their precious IT systems on a program that could cure cancer.

The main thing is ensuring that you set it under the right team number - 46574 - the points won't go to the team otherwise.
If you've got a Radeon X1900 Graphics card, you should check out the Brand-new GUI Version Of Folding@home as well - if you meet the requirements, you can effectively increase your folding output by ten times! 8O
Radeon X1900 cards are the only cards that are supported at the moment though. It doesn't work with my two Radeon 9250's...

That Ringold being our own Ringold would actually make a lot of sense - if you look at the charts, there's a big increase in his output for the various projects right around the time that he stopped folding.
There is also a corresponding decrease in his output at about the time that he started folding too. Ringold said himself that he was sacrificing other projects so that he could fold with us...
It's a shame we can't contact him to check. I'm not going to sign up to some random website just to check if hes "our" Ringold though.

Just wanted to say, YEA!!!!! I finally made the list! 153 points for the BOTFII Team. I'l already on my second fold and though it has only run a couple hours, I am currently at 73/500... !!! YES!
I'm also looking into spreading this around, he he he! I have "good " friends who happen to work at teh headquarters of IBM. (Can you imagine the folding power of thier systems?). I have to meet with a representive on Wednesday to see if they will allow me to do this.

Guys, you probably already know coz i've PM'd everyone in the BOTF2 folding team, (Except Cookie coz Cookiee uses another name on the site and I don't know what it is! ) but i've finally cracked the folding@home signature image - as you can see from my post. If you want to add it to your own posts, this is how you do it:
Click on your account
Click on change info
Enter the following link into the signature box:
http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/ ... hp?t=46574
Add image tags around the url, just like you do if you want to put an image into a post. There obviously aren't any buttons to do this, but all you have to write is:
BEFORE the url (No spaces) enter this: [img]
AFTER the url (No spaces) enter this: [/img]
Click on the save changes button, and away you go!

Excellent Work Admiral!
Now we only need to see if it changes as time goes on.
Oh another thing.. I'm on my third fold, but for some reason it is not holding what was already done.... very odd. Wonder if I should take it out of my system and reload it?

What do you mean it isn't holding what is already done? I don't understand you, Winterhawk.
If you mean your progress isn't being saved when you turn the computer off, make sure you set the checkpointing to 3 minutes. Otherwise I honestly don't know what could be wrong.
If it's something else, you'll have to let me know what you mean...

You nailed it... progress was not being saved, so I readjusted it down to 3 minutes.. thanks..
[Edit]
Just jumped from 22 to 21 in the standings!!! Moving on up!!!
LOL

I think there's a new updated F@H client out, or it might be the beta, i'm not sure. Good to know we're all still folding!

Yeah, there is, Trekboy, i've mentioned it before. It's the one that allows you to add the power of your GPU to the folding process, GREATLY increasing your folding output - but it's only compatible with Radeon X1900's at the moment, and it's still only beta - so expect bugs.

Cool. Stick it up for us when you get it.
...
Folding@home was actually just mentioned on University Challenge tonight - one of the sets of questions was about distributed computing. The question was something like "what does the distributed computing program called folding@home attempt to unfold?"
Hehe I was able to answer that one!

Matress, I downloaded one of the newer versions and that might be why I am processing so fast.
I statred a new one last night juat after midnight, and I'm now at
184/500. I'm keeping tracjk of how many days it is taking me to do each.
Kinda neat though...!

Ah right, my computer can't run ANY of the new versions. I'm pretty sure it's my graphics cards. They're 2x 128mb Radeon 9250's.
I'm still doing 600-pointer, Winterhawk. 162/250 and counting. 39 minutes per frame...

I think I'll start folding again with my new computer. I've got an X1900XTX so I should be able to take advantage of the new client. Would I be able to have the GPU and CPU clients running at the same time?

ya, I guess what I'm actually asking is if it would be beneficial to do that, or if the GPU client just has the same features as the normal one, except it uses the CPU and the GPU at the same time.
