Just stumbled accross this site and I have to say WOW to the devs. Outstanding work. I downloaded the UI demo vid and I am uterly impressed. Can't wait to see the game demo. I baught this game in a bargin bin around 6 years ago and fell in love with it and baught the remaining 4 out of the bin as a back up. Love the game just hated the memory leak. Keep up the good work and thank you.

Welcome. I am a dev wannabe trying to learn 3d modeling. The real devs have been very helpful. There is some info. on 3d programs and the like that got me going on da project. I have been so busy in my free time working on learning the tools and doing the models I have not been able to keep up with the demo stuff. See you around the galaxy. 8)

Glad you like what you see so far, rimsky. You can download a UI demo here. Gameplay is very, very limited, but it will give you an idea for the look and feel of the game.

Do you really have 4 extra copies of the original BotF? I lost my original disc years ago, and all I have is the backup copy I made. Let me know if you'd be willing to part with one of your spare copies (especially if you have the original box and manual).

ive got a german version, and a US version.

also, the massive couple hundred page manual (in english)

yet i still suck at the game... I guess I never really learned how to play. Yet im still here, working on a browser based port. Ironic, and quite 'sad' really.

RTSes are more my cup of tea, unless your talking about Civilization 2. BoTF is not even close to that game, yet is second best in the TBS genre.

I have one unopened copy and I have to be selfish about it. I collect games...still have quite a few unopened C64 games. Ill have to search around for extra manuals I might have in storage though...If I come across one I can send the manual though...Dont know if you would want one of my orrigional Cds though...I have one i use to burn coppies from and the other two are scratched pretty bad from a drunken lan party i had while i was in the army.

Hey there, Rimsky! :D

If you'd like more information on the game(s), you can check out The Database.

Try clicking the Trekmania link in there then follow the video clips link to get some great clips from the various films and series too! 8)

I've still got my original copy of BOTF - in fact i've never tried making a copy of it... 8O

I really need to do that just in case of an accident... 8O

I've still got my original box and jewel case as well, although i've just realised that my friend hasn't given me the manual back. I certainly don't remember it being several hundred pages long though, Nem. I'm sure mine was only about 90 pages or something. That's pretty short compared to most of my other games...

Anyways, if you don't mind translating a bit of German, you can also go to the German Birth of the Empires Forums.

The BotE guys have their own forums here, although those are a bit dead at the moment. I'm sure you'll find more information on the progress of their game over their.

I'd recommend using Altavista if you want to trnslate the webpage.

Welcome to the site! :D

I found my BotF manual a couple weeks ago. I laughed upon seeing it. I still use the original disk and I *think* I have the original jewel case... if the case never came with any paper inside it (I have no paper CD cover or backing inside of the plastic case).

If so, then I am 100% "authentic" whatever that means. Woot!, I guess.

(And before you go explaining to me the definition of authenticity, please know that I took a college class that spent a couple of weeks debating on what authenticity means to society as a whole and what it should probably stand for. Long story. But interesting class discussion.)
