We are currently thinking in BoE about some new ingame sounds / music for the new release. Since good ones are generally hard to find and better made by oneself (for legal issues and quality though I can't play any valuable instrument by myself..), it would greatly help us if some of you from the other projects or anyone else interested would share parts of their work with us.
If there is a site for this here apart from trekmania.net and ericjames' music then sorry, I didn't see..btw. can the files from http://www.trekmania.net/wavs/wavs_page14.htm be used as ingame sound (ok, I do not want to stress legal matters too much but one can never be cautious enough..)?
Feel free to post in our BoE Chat section in the community forum if you got something for us. Anything related will be welcome.
Btw. how's the legal stuff handled in supremacy et.al. for that matter? I mean, can the stuff from the demo/releases be reused by everyone or how's the thing? (even if stuff isn't available as separate files, one could still record ingame sound via Total Recorder for example.)

Regarding Mstrobal Supremacy, i'am sure if you asked him he would gladly share what he can.
Of course you might have to part with something maybe a screenshot or two of those lovely UI's you have

Malvoisin, I responded to your query via PM. For anyone else that's curious, all original music and art created for Star Trek: Supremacy is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-Share-Alike License. Unfortunately, I am still using a lot of the original BotF artwork, which is owned by Hasbro Interactive/Microprose, or whoever owns their remnants at the moment (Atari?). That raises all sorts of legal questions .

likewise
the legal stuff is exactly the point. don't want paramount sack in our work some day in the future for stupid sound (tho I know probability for this seems very low but who knows, someday maybe a bit higher )

One way around this is to think black and white silent films like charlie chaplan.
Use pop up batman style speach bubbles with sound effects in text format lol. The deaf community would love you for it. :p

hehe klingon humor. well, to be politically correct in this respect, we also had to implement braille systems as well. Anyway the bubble idea actually seems fun ... k not really
hm, this could really become a tough task in the end..

All you need is a nerdy kid from a college or school and pay them sweets to make some tunes for ur games. That or find a band and ask them if they want to help because well they do music etc so should be able to help sound effects wise too.

That would mean hating on me, and that's not good for BotF2 . Then again, this is a forum for a fan-based Star Trek game, so I guess we're all nerds.

o god, keep them away from me btw. I want at least some quality.
the thing with the band is actually what I had in mind too. Star trek alike tunes are just somewhat .. you know .. not everyone's favorites to say it that way. Also, sound effects and voices, well, a micro and a mixing unit is quickly found.
.. hate the idea that nobody did this before for low or what's more that I'm not able to find the corresponding site on the web ..
edit: the freeorion site is a bit slow, maybe their stuff is usable.

A Nerd? I Resemble that comment.. NOT!! LOL... Hmm has anyone thought of All the folks that make Midi"s and things of that nature? I do not know of any personally, but there are a lot of people who are listed on the web who do write music on the web, and quite a few would do it for nothing.. well except for wanting there name somewhere like an advertisement.... type deal...
this is just an idea..

well, ill put it this way:
geeks have girlfriends, lives, friends, etc.
nerds sit in their corner of their parent's basement all day (and night) long playing World of Warcraft and/or trying to act like they know something. They may seem like they know stuff about computers and technology, but in all actuality, they're a bunch of losers who know little or nothing.
Nerds are poser Geeks.

theres my rant, sorry!

So am I a super-nerd? Or maybe a Nerk or a Geerd. I have a gf, and did at one time play WoW all night long while dating her. It was pretty difficult to pull off, and I definitely got some wifeaggro.
