DS Lite sells more than PS3 in Japan. Six games pass million mark in Europe
Sony's much-hyped PlayStation 3 launched in Japan on November 11 but according to the first official sales figures from Media Create it has been well and truly destroyed by DS.

In its first weekend on sale PS3 sold just 81,639 with DS Lite selling 148,174. It's pretty good for a handheld but that's not the whole story. See, not only did DS Lite beat PS3 it actually sold more than every console put together, including PSP, PS2 and Xbox 360. It really is incredible.

While that's going on in Japan, there is more good news for DS in Europe as it has been announced that six DS games have now sold more than a million copies. You may have already been aware that Nintendogs has sold 4 million copies in Europe but Dr Kawashima's Brain Training, Animal Crossing: Wild World, New Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario 64 have all shattered the million mark.

It's great news for DS and the range of best-selling games proves that the handheld is appealing to everyone. Nintendo will be looking for a similar result with Wii and the early signs are good. Amazon.co.uk started their Wii pre-order offer this morning, selling out within minutes.

The controller/remote thing is fun to play with, other than if your lazy your going to have some trouble. At least it will get fat kids moving again.

The PS3 is lousy (also from personal experience), the graphics are nice, but the games dont play well, and the controller is uncomfortable. There isnt a good online system either, and dont forget the major problem, the MASSIVE price tag.

That line about selling more than any other system combined is not true - the 360 and PSP have sold tons.
