Yeah, although a developer has promised to inform the appropriate patcher parties about including customizeable enemy fleets in skirmishes.

The multiplayer lobby is just a matter of time. Personally, I stay away from multiplayer while I learn the basic controls of the game anyways.

ive considered 'getting it' for the PC. Depends on a few things, but we should make a clan/guild/thing if Xbox and PC guys can play together.

Not sure that there is much time for all that. I was thinking about listening to some of Frank Sinatra's greatest hits tonight or drink some battery acid or pasting no skid strips in my bath tub. :?

Ok... Legacy looks SPECTACULAR. Ship movement is a little confusing (I was afraid of this when I learned it was 3d). Three dimensions definitely adds a lot more realism, but things are really chaotic. At this point, I'm quite content with a camera lock on my target and completely ignoring other obstacles. Good news is that I've yet to crash into something. The bad news (or possibly more good news depending on if you're a half-full or half-empty person) is I haven't had a whole lot of chances to crash into something anyways.

The ships are definitely sluggish when turning; if you're expecting to turn on a dime and zip around like a fighter, you're in for a surprise. The Defiant is easily one of the most maneveruable ships (duh), but it even has a slight sluggish feel to it. The bigger you go, the more sluggish you are. Turning the Galaxy and Sovereign around definitely requires some foresight on the part of the player to determine when it would be appropriate to do so.

Speaking of the Defiant, it's probably one of my favorite ships due to the maneveruability. It also has a pretty nice top speed. I did a Borg co-op skirmish at DS9 which essentially just sends waves of Borg that you beat the crap out of. The Intrepid is... lack-luster. Let's just say that Voyager probably should have been dusted many times over during the course of the series.

The Sovereign is obviously the King of the Block. It's slow, but it hits hard. It's a bit slow on the weapons locks as well, but it can sustain phaser fire pretty well and can throw 3 quantums out without blinking.

Sustained phaser fire seems to be key in taking out shields. As such, I expect the Defiant's usefulness in shielded battles would be lacking as the only sustained phaser arc it has is pretty much anywhere but in front of it, and it is capable of only firing one sustained phaser blast. The pulse phasers are definitely nice for lighting up Borg ships which are unshielded.

A slight problem I have with the game is that you cannot turn and fire at the same time (using the keyboard anyways). It's kinda apparent that this game was designed with the 360 in mind so if you have one and are thinking about getting it for the PC anyways, you should definitely wait. In fact, PC users might want to pick up a 360 controller for this game. You also can't fire and accelerate/deaccelerate either. I'm not sure what the deal is but when you're firing weapons you can't control anything else unless you stop firing.

I personally like the weapon graphics, and the models are exquisite. I have high detail (there's low, medium, high, and very high) and a decent resolution set up, but the remaining graphic options for my laptop are minimum/off. Also while in a skirmish, Sisko was responding to the events occuring from the Defiant which was cool. Picard in the Soveriegn and Janeway in the Intrepid were no where to be heard, though; perhaps it was on purpose since Sisko was present. It might have been dependant on which order I picked my fleet. The Defiant was the first ship I'd come across that I cared to buy so it was always the primary ship in my fleet. I'll try snagging a Soveriegn first to see if Stewart's voice comes up instead.

Multiplayer has been fixed. I've yet to try it and I don't really have the desire to give it a go quite yet. But I can see other games that other players have created.

funny thing, skeeter. seems like we are all doing this here for a good reason (I mean the botf2-thing). Would have been nice though if the game was any better but I guess the "20+ a little higher-intelligent community" was not the target group for their profit intents. I personally think it's the "rather inexperienced" nerds-group (age 10-14) that makes the best cash cow so why bothering about those others like us ain't it? ;)

*shrugs*

I like Legacy so far, and I'm liking it more and more as I play. I'm positive the game will be superior on the 360 than it is right now. The game, even on the PC, has a very console feel to it. There's a lot of critisism on the forums right now, and I think Maddoc will wind up releasing a few patches that will improve the game.

It's not perfect by any means. But then again, neither was BotF. For me, Legacy is much more solid than BotF was at release, not to mention Armada. With a little bit of patchlove, the game should be tip-top.

I can't help but think that the problems you ran into Skeeter is somehow related to how you aquired a copy of it. All of the things you were telling me, I couldn't really figure out how they were occuring.

But most of the major issues with the game sound as if they will be PC-related. The 360 should be pretty smooth.

I figured I'd just throw this out there, but... I've encountered more bugs in Tactical Assault than I have in Legacy. And with TA, I'm nearly done with the game.

Maybe thats why they kept 360 back from release as they KNEW it was buggy as hell. I think they wanted the money from the PC sales to finance better testing for 360 version. As most ppl know the 360 testing is alot harder than pc and its hard to fix if its broke.

Bastards berth and mad doc for such crap testing and pulling features. Plus the console was 1st priority for them. Heck they knew pc sales wouldnt be good but consoles would be. Hence again why i think pc was just released to finance the missing features from pc version into 360 version plus better support and better game than us PC users.

Damn em to hell.

I really wish interplay were still around they made great trek games like starfleet academy. Now a modern day version of that game with all 5 captains would have really been worth the tribute to the anniversary to trek.

I think you've been reading the Bethesda forums too much :p

The game isn't that bad, and some of the pulled features aren't that major anyways. The graphics are an improvement in just about any other game I've seen (and there's a thread over there that goes into detail the differences between Legacy and BC graphics, mods included). The only disappointment I have is the dumb down from 8 players to 4.

If you play with the skirmish mode, the more players you add, the less ships each can control. This tells me it's a hardware issue. Adding more ships and/or players would put more strain on the hardware and force Maddoc to increase the hardware requirements. Legacy already has crazy hardware requirements; increasing them to an even higher level would alienate a lot of consumers because then they would not be able to afford the game.

The upgrade system isn't really that big of a deal. Instead of upgrading your actual ship, you simply upgrade to a better version of the ship. This would be more inline of what occurs anyways without getting too detailed. A Constitution doesn't really have any business in the TNG era. It'd be neat, but that would never fly in Starfleet unless they were strapped for ships for some reason... like... say... a major war with a distant super-power in another quandrant. Archaic ships would typically be a liability.

The battle recorder would have been mint. I can't explain away that one. StarCraft patched one in, though, so I could see the same happening here.

Releasing it for the PC first was likely a business decision to get some returns on their major project that had yet to return any. It's not just Bethesda-related issue, but something just about any company would have to do. Companies need to make money. No money, no company. Which means no game. Just comparing my experience to yours, for example, should outline just how complex the issues that can occur in game development. You've got a laundry list of bugs, and I have about two minor annoyances but an overall enjoyable experience.

Besides, as you said, the PC is easily patchable and the 360 is not. It's true. And from a business standpoint, it's a smart decision. I can't fault them or blame them for it. If you were in their shoe, you would have to make that same decision. If their employees don't get paid, the find another job. That takes income. If the shareholders lose money, they sell their stocks reducing the overall resources the company has. The whole "but it's supposed to be a great game to celebrate the 40th aniversary" chip doesn't exactly go too far with investors who are expecting returns, employees expecting a paycheck, and essentially the rest of soeciety. But this applies to pretty much everything that is business-related.

The game is solid. It needs a few patches, and it's pretty likely to get them considering prior history with Maddoc. The game appears further along for the 360, which is good for the console market as patches are difficult. Considering some of the things I've read about Bridge Commander, all the critisism Legacy is getting seems really similiar. But I don't see too many people complaining about BC anymore.

Skeeter, can you be more specific about what you don't like? "It's crap" really doesn't tell us much.

Ya, reviews don't really influence my game purchases anyway. I seem to have such different interests that I have to play a game myself before deciding whether it's good or not. I can't just go on reviews.

I think part of the problem is that people don't really know how to play the game. The game is becoming more and more enjoyable for me as I am learning (sometimes accidently) different things to do that help me control the game better overall.

I've been browsing the Legacy forums (instead of working) for a few hours now and that seems to be the running theme in the posts. The people that are ready to hang the game have only spent a few hours into it. The ones that are really enjoying it can relate to the problems that people are saying, but were also capable of overcoming those problems by sticking with the game, learning a few new tricks, and going "Wow, that's way easier now."

It's pretty good. There's some minor bugs, most of them are graphical. The game doesn't crash. It doesn't have a memory leak. The game is FAR more stable than BotF ever was.

I think you guys are on crack :p

Those Legacy screenshots are spectacular. The only thing I wish it had from BC graphically was that damage modeling. That missing chunk out of the saucer is friggin sweet.

Btw incase no one knew i was playing with in bc about 20 fed ships vs a few borg cubes. Wolf 359 anybody? :) And better fps than i would have got in legacy lol.

Just so you know also, bc uses modeled weapons effects as in more real and solid. Whereas legacy uses "sprites" urgh... Wheres the sick back. :D

That'll be cos Legacy is a new title - BC yep great game but can't compete with newer titles. And Azh, I agree they are amazing! To be honest, not great on Skeet's PC so i can see where your coming from. Still graphics don't make a game brilliant.

EDIT: Legacy is confirmed as release on 22nd December

EDIT: Lots of people say the PC version is just a 360 port, in their advice pay the extra 15quid and get a far better game overall
