Hey guys, this is just a post to let people know that the reset over on X-Wars in now complete, and I have reformed our BOTF2 alliance.

You will need to sign up to the game again and wait for your password to be sent via email. Because the game has only just be reset, the servers are running a bit slow, (It took 4 hours for my email to come through) but most of the bugs have (Apparently) been fixed!

Once you've signed into the game, just run a search for BOTF2 alliance in the tag box. Send a request to join and I will add you to the alliance!

So come on people, show your support and join the alliance!

My account was deleted from X-Wars right around the time that STA was being thought up. I didnt join after that - I didnt see a reason to play if you cant lose

Ok then, X-Wars is a browser-based massively multiplayer game.

Basically, it's a 4x game like BOTF - you eXplore, eXpand, eXploit, and eXterminate. You start off small, build buildings to gather resources, build ships, research, commit espionage atatcks, defend yourself with, and so on.

The technologies in the game all have different benefits, and fall into four categories - general, weapons/defenses, engine tech, and administration. There are tons of weapons types - Projectiles, Rays, Plasma, High-Energy, Biological, and Antimatter - as well as different defense types - Metal Plating, Carbon Plating, Energy Shields, and Teleporters.

Each of the different types have different advantages and weaknesses, for example, Impulse Cannons (Projectile weaponss) are pathetically weak but are cheap and so can be equipped en masse, whilst Antimatter Torpedoes (Antimatter weapons) are powerful enough to destroy entire fleets, but take months of research to reach, and are so energy intensive and heavy that only one can be equipped on even the largest of ship types.

The same things go for defenses - Metal Platings give decent defense and are cheap, but are heavy and so few of them can be put on a ship. Carbon Platings are weaker, but they are much lighter and so more can be put on a ship, potentially giving better defense ratings.

You're probably wondering why all this matters to players - surely the ship designs are pre-determined like in BOTF?

NOPE!

YOU design all the ships that you build in the game - from engines types, weapons, to defenses and special systems. And as you research, the stats of your available weapons and defenses increase - UNlike in BOTF.

There are also different races - Terrans, Xianians, Bugserians, and Noberians - and factions - Ajuvar, Trading Guild, Confederation, Fraternity of Obolos, Rokhar, Terran League, and Space Pirates, in the game. Each race and faction have their own advantages and disadvantages. You can choose to be a member of one race and a member of one faction. The bonuses (And disadvantages) of the factions are added onto the bonuses (And disadvantages) of the races.

Oh, and as has been pointed out like Winterhawk, be VERY careful about multi-accounting - they're checking IP addresses this time!

I'm controlling my main account from home, and my MOE account from work. That means I don't have access to my MOE account on the weekends, but at least it'll mean I still have two accounts...
