The best news is that Kim from casting referred to my proposal as excellent. It is encouragement like that from a non Star Trek fan that means the broad appeal I needed to win. This will be a popular vote of the general public. Thanks for your support.

Hopefully there will be an online vote or something...we Europeans may not get to vote otherwise.

I heard it's voting via tv and telephone (but I just checked a website of theirs for about half a minute). So aside from phone costs to call overseas that shouldn't be a problem for us to vote for kenneth there for example (if he's good ).

Thanks for your show of support. It looks like the show may have had a name change. It was or now is THE GREAT AMERICAN DREAM VOTE. The proposal you have all help to sharpen must still pass muster with the producers. It does sound like they are looking for light entertainment. My proposal may be on the too serious side for them. I will be on the road and offline for a few day. I will monitor my voice mail for any calls during this time.

I have learned more about the nature of this competition. It appears my proposal will be disqualified for its intense emotional appeal. My proposal centered on a Star Trek mini episode using actors from the Make a Wish Foundation of America. This organization is in the business of granting wishes for children with cancer and other potentially lethal conditions. They cover up to 17 years of age and thereby encompassing the major demographics for the Star Trek series. Many of these kids have no future and those that do may look forward to treatment related malignancies several years after remission. Contacting the national office of this organization in Phoenix, Arizona I learned that they often have requests related to TV and movie themes like this. I was told that the Make a Wish Foundation would be very willing to draw nationally to cast such a project.

My proposal to ABC was to produce a Star Trek episode staring these young actors. The script would have drawn on your suggestions including a birth of the federation theme. The sets for the production would have used the facilities of Star Trek the Experience at the Hilton hotel in Los Vegas Nevada - if set construction was prohibitively expensive. I would love to go to the Paramount digital graphics studios to take part in developing the ship and special effect scenes.

ABC does not, as I have now learned, want the competition for this dream fulfillment to be a contest of who has the largest tumor - to paraphrase their comments. As worthy as this proposal may seam it appears too real for reality TV. You could imagine that if they let in proposals like this contestants proposing this would win every week. It would be best to not get too upset as it is apparent they are looking for light entertainment. For my part I did not want to become a clown in the media circus just to have fifteen minutes of fame. Many proposals less than this could quickly be turned into a farce by ABC. Remember that chubby kid swinging a light saber on Youtube? It will be interesting to see what they do air for this episode of the ABC production and what wins the competition.

i anticipated from the moment I read about this hairless guy that you may be targetting the wrong contest with your proposal, forget those ABC guys, I think they still have to learn the abc.. lol

Thanks for your support. It would be a lie to say my hopes were not up given what seamed a strong proposal. Even in the face of the sour grapes issue you are likely right.

I see where ABC is coming from. But being they are a braodcasing station, We all know about how closed minded those people can be. Well that is on important things. Other items like selling sex. They have no problem with.

Perhaps you have a back up maybe for the next time, if there is a next time.
