This is really worrying, you guys can finish WUs in 13 hours and me with my hunk of junk XP 2400+ takes months to do a full one (not folding 24/7 remember). Plus as I've said before all the progs I run affect it so It ends up being 3-4 hours a day - then they fail!
Good to have the master back though - maybe start looking at 1000ppd's again now.
Ringold, what is BONIC?

As long as just three or four other people fold pretty regularly 1000ppd's for the team shouldn't be too hard. I've got a 392pt WU with 1d21hr left (it sucks, whatever it is, its giving me half the ppd as the unit it just finished did) and just got a massive 805pt WU that has been running for about a half hour and still can't get an ETA calculated.. It's a beast.. I'm going to guess 3 days..
BOINC.. Berkeley Open Infrastructure for Networked Computing. It's a platform that lets a bunch of different projects like F@H run from inside one app. F@H actually has an alpha project for BOINC but apparently the staff at Stanford that was working on it left and they havent picked it back up yet. It's got a whole ton of different projects, like ClimatePrediction, Einstein@Home (that looks for gravity waves to verify general relativity), Rosetta@Home and a bunch of others. Oh, SETI@Home uses it too. They were the founding project.
I'm coming back to F@H for a while now though. I've got my older comp running Rosetta@Home, and this one and my next will do F@H. Hard to bring myself to continue to do Einstein@Home and ClimatePrediction indefinitely when alzheimers and whatnot is a much more immediate, applicable, real-world thing to help work on.
Oh, and fast stats-check: 1026 points in the last 24hrs. A return to 1000ppds indeed.

I always joined my university team, and founded the team for the projects where it didn't already exist. University of Central Florida. Pretty sad membership in most cases, 3-4 active people including myself. Wasn't doing it for the team bonding experience, thats for sure.
Hard to beat this place.
Btw, in case anyone wonders how much RAM a "large workunit" takes when they see it in setup options, its 235-250mb, if my 805pt WU is any indication.

Judging by this week, my weekly contribution is going to be around 2k points. Late Feb / early March, it'll double when I set up a new computer, but for now, it's all I got.

http://folding.stanford.edu/
It's a volunteer program that we run; it uses a computers spare cpu cycles to simulate protein folding data for Stanford university, and they take the data and use it in their research of various protein-related diseases and what not.
We've got our own team, so we 'fold' for it.
My productions ending up being a bit higher than I though, 2.5k over last 7 days now..
.. but Raven has 2376 over 7days at the moment..
5 days or so until he overtakes Mortse and Author..
45 days or so until he overtakes Moe..
62 for Bogseat..
103 for Ashur..
I'm more or less treading water in my point leadership, so I don't have to worry, but the sooner you other 3 manage to get some more production going the easier the defense of your positions will be.

lol, well how about I just let it run constantly over the next 7 days and we'll see how those numbers are, I finished 2 full WU's today, so around 4200 can be done in 7 days on the GPU alone. Then I can finish around a 20000 per day on the CPU so that's around 2100 more. Now, when I get another X1900XTX and set up another GPU once they have a multi GPU client, it's just over Though once they support the 8800 Series and you get your GTS, you would equal me in pixel shaders I think Ringold.

Holy Moly! I see I have been left out! lol I have not been folding that long and am soooo close to making the top ten! With 31 WU's done, I'm very pleased with how fast I have grown. But now with the newer systems
I could be left in the dust! Curse those 7 days I was not able to fold cause Stanfords recieving computers messed up!
But I'm not mad.
(Presets all disrupter banks to full charge and orders all torpedoes to be at the ready for a full spread release on Stanford)

Hey now, no need to get so hasty with those disruptors 8O. You know what, just cause I'm a nice guy, I'm going to devote a day of my GPU folding to you Winterhawk in recognition of your achievement.

Wow, so then, your 7-day figures I looked at were less than half what they will be... I might have to keep an eye on this.. 8O
I don't know if an 8800GTS will be able to hold off two 1900XTX's but at least at that point I won't be hemorrhaging in points lead.
Congrats, though; thats is some impressive points output!

LOL Thanks Raven! LOL
I was ranting for fun! Moe.... 8O
CaptRingold - what you have done for folding is in my view Amasing!
Ranting is fun but we Are all in this together! We are a Team working for the betterment of the world.
Congradulations should go to everyone, So I salute you all!

Don't panic!!!! It's Cool!! Everything's cool!!! Just, if anyone explodes in the next 10 minutes, ummm, it wasn't me I'm just trying to add a little bit of competition to the team; get you people properly motivated. Otherwise we're just sitting here; the computer does all the work. CaptRingold wrote: Wow, so then, your 7-day figures I looked at were less than half what they will be... Actually the 8800GTS has 96 Shader processors, and an X1900XTX has 48 Pixel shaders, so we would have roughly the same potential I think.
Congrats on everyones folding achievements!!!

I agree, in the end it's all for the team. Or the science, actually, I suppose. But.. Friendly competition amongst ourselves is never a bad thing If he takes 2nd and is gaining on me, better believe I'll have extra inspiration to boost production
About the 8800GTS, I don't know if it'll scale that well. Hopefully it will! They don't game 2x as good as a 1900XTX, but folding could be different. It'll make me feel better about the cash I burned, thats for sure

I tried to with a Win98 system, but the poor thing is sooooo messed up, and I cannot afford the cost of the disk to reformat it at this time.
Besides the Wife wants a NEW system with the dual core and if I can get working and get here one then she wants to fold under her name. lol

Chris, I would but I do not have the $20.00 USD for the stupid disk. They say the disk itself is free but costs that much to ship it. Now how stupid is that? LOL

I was making my daily check of stats and noticed MOE hath returned to land of the folders.
In fact, about to take 3rd from Bogseat in a few days. A somewhat longer journey to overtake Ashur, who appears active.
