I just thought of another random, the nexus, although i don't know what sort of advantages/disadvantages it would have
but i guess it could take away some population from a planet, or destroy a ship.

that's a idea, but perhaps a bit to much to actually let a population dissapear?

interesting idea
would be very cool to see and study if a ship can maintain its distance and not be destroyed
maybe it could launch probes into it and gather wat they can before the probes are riiped apart
that should be another feature - Science probes -
gathers sensro data and increases research onus 5 -10+ %
?

i think that should belong to the science option. I mean when you select a ship in botf to cloak, avoid, engage, etc... In botf2 there will also be a option for science/research. I mean when you do research for a anomaly then you would do the same, right?

Also agreed. I'm confused about this wave iwulff, is it from something blowing up?
When you said ion storm earlier, I thought u were talking about ion storms like the ones in trek.

Know it isn't, i just liked the shock wave, how it looked like. I mean you would see this wave, on the map moving up and down, and then next turn it will be a sector further.

Maybe if something really powerful like a production facility or even a nova went off, this could be a side effect of it?

Regarding randoms, the Minosian system should be the biggest and best system going, with all the benefits and planet types- to give you a reason to beat the Combat Drone.

I think that it just should have a random system, and that it would be a bit weird to give them the best system. Everyone who sees the battle drone, will be wanting to go that place, i don't think it will add to the gameplay.

Minosian system had advanced an advanced replicator on it, capable of replacting ships, so prehaps this system once the drone is beaten back should give you a ship productionfacility at a higer rate. Or prehaps rather than then it should add 50% to all ship production empre wide (or maybe a building that you can build on each system that increses ship production

don't you think that, that would be to much? I mean it should work as a normal planet, perhaps with a special building on it. But 50%!!! isn't right. Perhaps only a 25% increase only on this system. Which is a lot 8O

Imagian if you could replicate a starship instead of build it? 50% is prefect, but prehaps it does need looking at.
4 updates and it made something that was a match for a Galaxy class vessel, so id say the drone is a Galaxy calss, but with cloak (sounds wieard but i mena stat wise not deisgn) so it'll take a fair bit to beat it. so wither you have it so the Minosian planet if a computer bases system that you need to make friends with and get as a minor to use their tech. and the Drone keeps comming back every turn it is destroied. OR, you have it so u beat the drone and you get the system, (needs colonising which may cause programming probs as is) and the build bonus drops to about 10%, prehaps the Minosian tech isnt as compatable with real tech, lol. Or the Minosian system has the only replicator and can build ships faster than everywhere else, that would maen you only get 1 system advantage.
I like all of them, but id say id go for 2 if its programmable.

Well its open to debate, the last ones good too. prehaps the second ones a bit hard on programming, having a building on a system without a pop. Lets see what the others think

Perhaps we should put the Minosians in as a minor race? This way we could persuede them to join u.

i agree make them a minor race, enraged with everyone, race specific structure gives 25% build bonus on their system only.

totally agree on that they need to be enraged with anyone, and i like is said before thinks that the 25% will be enough.

yea makin them a minor race that dont like anyone would work fine for game play, in Trek they just wanted to sell their product ibut screwed it up, lol. Prehaps in the game it didnt get out of hand and they actually use it.
Oh thats something else, dont know if it can be implemented tho, seems liek a lot of work, minors should be able to use their own buildings and gert the bonouses from em

i agree on that, the races will be able to expand, so they will have some special buildings just like the "Majors" to build. They actually play like majors, but have a smaller chance because of there lower tech and other stuff.

I think that minor should work the same sa majors. They have buildings that can help them to grow more. If a minor is much smaller then you, then it can join you, but if a minor empire has got a few systems, you should see it more as a empire.

What about them? They will appear in botf2 ofcourse, meteors could cause a planet to alter from class. Earthquakes can destroy buildings and kill people. But i think that this should also depend on the planet type. Because a M class planet like earth, will not be hit that hard by a earthquake, then compared to a planet where earthquakes are bigger.

Regarding Earthquakes and meteors....
Should there perhaps be a structure of some kind that provides some defence against them?
In trek, risa is naturally a stormy jungle, yet they are able to manipulate the weather etc to avoid this.
Realistically, we could probably blast a meteor out of the sky now, surely an orbital battery would take it out, or some kind of 24th century 'star wars' project. Maybe the only systems that can be affected by meteors etc should be some minors, or small, underdeveloped colonies.
This could actually be yet another way to curry favour with minors, if an asteroid is on route, send a ship to blast it.

metoers could be destroyed but comets or asteroids very doubtful, as if you hit them they would blow up into hundreds of objects that would reign down on the planet

So a Sovereign Class ship with tractor beams and quantum torpedoes couldn't stop a comet....?

What if ground defence also helped with defence against a comet or something like that?

I don't know how ground defence would help against a comet...but i guess orbital batterys could shoot it before it enters the atmosphere so it would be smaller and break up instead of hitting as one big chunk.
or if you have a ship in orbit of a certain class, it could shoot or use tractor beams.
