I've created a SharePoint site for the Birth of the Federation 2 Consortium. It is located at http://www.botf2.com/. This will provide a shared online workspace where members of the community can share files and ideas in a single well-organized place.
The top-level site will contain anything that is not specific to a single project (i.e. BotE or Supremacy). I have created a sub-site specific to Supremacy, and I can create one for BotE as well.
I encourage everyone to check this out. With luck, all of the BotF2 content will be posted here in the near future. This will make it much easier to find relevant and up-to-date information without having to dig through all of the forum posts.
Everyone has read-only access to the site. I will create accounts for anyone who contributes to any of the BotF2 projects, as well as any of the forum regulars who have been around long enough to be trustworthy .
If you would like an account, please reply to this thread with your e-mail address and your desired display name. If you don't want to post your e-mail address, you can send it to me in a PM.

Added Zelini and Nemitor... when I create an account, you should receive two e-mails: one with your login and password, the other informing you that you have been added to the Contributors group on the SharePoint site.

I posted a message at our board, hopefully we can form some small german community there. But first, Sir P. must return lol and read this all. (he sure finds the name "botf2 consortium" as funny as I do )

He can add his own users and manage his own permissions.

I've got no need for more than read-only access, but nice to see everything under one roof!
Wish I could help with the databases, but no xml experience. Overclocking, yes, xml, no.

I'm back. It would be nice if I can get such an account too. But I can't promise, that I have enough time. I think Malvosin can assist me

why would I do do that?! *jus kidding*
I was just wildly guessing..this editing feature there makes me wonder if one could also offer some small/tiny source files like for example our screen GUI arrangement in order to have someone here have a look at it and check if one can make it any different/more elegant and actually change the file accordingly. I could think guys like gowron, joker, jig and the devs here could help (also each other) that way without harming their source too much
anyway, only if this makes sense at all and if needed at all.

I've created a sub-site for BotE and given owner privileges to SirP and Malvoisin so they can modify the site layout. You can customize the individual pages as well as add new lists and libraries. You can also create nested sites (I added a Developer's Blog to mine).

thx. first off we'll only use it for user-content stuff. See about the dev blog later on when things speed up again a little.
btw. I recognized some smaller things while browsin on the site.
for example when I enter the site via plain http://www.botf2.com then I cannot see the group members or the link to it which should be above the "view all site content" on the left hand menu.
I can only get there if I use the password changing link and "change" my password. Maybe I just don't see
also in opera, the submenus in the buttons "Action" or "View" like for example in the image library don't work. With the IE it works again. Guess it's opera

SharePoint is a Microsoft product, and so it works best with Internet Explorer. It works fine for me in Mozilla as well. I don't have much control over the design. Well, I do, but I'd rather not mess with it, as I don't have much experience doing SharePoint web development.
BTW, you'll need to use the "Sign In" link at the top-right corner of the site if you want to add or modify content (if you're not logged in). You should also have a "Site Actions" menu on the far right side of the top navigation bar when you're inside the BotE site.

I totally understand the free time issue. I'm just lucky to have a lot of free time this semester (my last semester ). It'd be nice if you uploaded some screenshots when you get the time.

if you could spare the bandwidth, could I have an allegiance section? It could help a bit with user submitted stuff (models, graphics, descriptions, XML, php, etc.)
if not, its np.

is there a way to upload a whole folder onto the site?
takes a bit time to upload 400 jpgs (my planet images that need sorting out and enhancing..) on the site one-by-one anyway I want them not zipped, which I'm going to do now because one should see and edit them "unzipped" lol

@Malvoisin: There should be an "upload multiple files" entry under the 'upload' menu... click the little down arrow next to the "Upload" button on the toolbar.

nope. ain't any.
only the "Upload Document <br> Upload a document from the computer to your library" pops up..
using Firefox but that shouldn't be the problem since the pop-up works in general..

Try it with Internet Explorer... it doesn't show up in Firefox for me either.

Hover over the filename until the edit dropdown appears, then click "Send to -> Other Location". Put the path you want to transfer to. The root folder is "http://www.botf2.com/bote/Shared Documents/", so you'll probably want to set the destination to something like "http://www.botf2.com/bote/Shared Documents/Files/Zips". After you copy the files to the new location, you can go back and delete the originals.
