Well as i am curently buying the books im not sure wich system it works on but basic on paper based role-playing is that You have a chariture that you play and you have a sheet with there stats abilitys and a histroy (you will right and submit) A Narator will then Make up a story it is simular to RPG gmes online but you can do anything

The narator sets tells the stroy and sets sence,

So an exaple is i tell ytou that you have just come aborad the uss enterprise and picard is greeting you with an open hand as a player you can do whatever you like (shoot him, shake his hand, spit on him, take him hostage) but its important to rember that your actions must coinside with your player ie. If your playing a member of starfleet your not gonna shoot him for no reason, while if your playing an evil Jh'madar you may, but in that case i doubt i would have picard saying hi to you lol

What i need is CANNON (ish) storylines or missons that a group of people (played by my group) can do like elite force but set on DS9 with ships takeing them places and what have you fduring the domion war

so if you said how about being put aborad a cardassion ship that is part of the rebeluion and you have to take out a Domion carisle white foricilty things like but more detail

Dose that help i dont know quite how to explaine it

Simple terms its KOTR but were you actualy play a person stateing his actions and you talk for him and the Naritor is like the programmer who has to constanlty change the eviroment as you can do anything you want.

Hope that helps

Just rely need missions that a elite force in domion war could be sent on...... MOE should be up for this and anyone who writes fan fiction as it is bascily the same thing, its just writeing a story for what missions they mgiht be sent on Hopefuly some feedback will arrive

Billy

Is it like D&D and based on the d20 system? IE: if you're going to attack something or use a skill or whatever, you roll a 20-sided die and then add any abilities or modifiers. You then compare it to the "difficulty" of what you are trying to do. If you meet or exceed it, your action works. Otherwise, nothing happens.

Eh, I'm trying to understand the rulesystem myself :p I know how D&D works, and I know there are a lot of d20 games with different settings. So if this Star Trek RPG is using the d20 system, then I can understand what's happening and how the game, mechanically, will progress. At that point, it's just a matter of putting flesh (a story) onto the bones of the game (the rules).

the old Panzer General worked that way.

instead of having a server on the game that instantly progresses game data and distributes it to the player, the game takes the round changes done by the other player via email ;)

I still don't get it.

What are you supposed to do? Send an email saying "Miranda fires x torpedoes" "Build one University" and so on?

That just sounds...tedious and boring. I wouldn't call it a game, but maybe I just don't get it.
