(See the Birth of the Fedeartion - MUSIC above.)
From Malvoisin,
"besides kennethgf and his romulan outpost, no one is currently doin any 3D art (apart from jig's game, see the corresponding (3D) screenshots)."
Malvoisin thinks I am the only one that has done any 3D models. That could be because I am the one that put my humble attempts on Sharepoint. Guess we all need to upload our models to Sharepoint for the devs.

PM mstrobel to get signed up at http://www.botf2.com/ I think he will need your email address to send the login.
It is so good to hear from you again. You can look at how I put in the files for Romulan stations but then mstrobel may want to say more about how we are going to organize all these model files.

Hey Welcome back, Trashman! I was getting worried that you hadn't posted recently!
Once you've got your login, upload everything you have. It doesn't matter if some models have UV maps and whatever whilst others dont - just upload then as best you can.
Seeing as each ship/station will likely have multiple files though, it may be best to upload the individual files into separate folders - so one folder for eg. the Akira class, another folder for the Sovereign class, and so on. If you put the files into one big folder, you may end up mixing stuff up and generally confusing everyone!
All the files are going in the shared documents of the main site - don't put it in the shared documents folder of Allegiance, BotE, or Supremacy or the models might get lost!
As an example, the directory structure could be like this:
The Birth of the Federation 2 Consortium -> Shared Documents -> 3D Models -> Romulan -> Stations -> Outpost 1
Or
The Birth of the Federation 2 Consortium > Shared Documents > 3D Models > Romulan > Starships -> Warbird
...And so on.
Oh, and sharepoint does NOT accept .zip files - you can only upload files as-is. Uploading is also easier if you have Office 2007 installed - if you do, you can do multiple uploading of files. You cannot do this with earlier versions of Office!
I have Office 2000 and cannot do multiple uploading.

yes. it basically don't matter which format as long as it is not some strange proprietarian one .
polygons can stay below 100k and UV mapped is okay. You might wanna use the lightwave format as standard.

Once you get the ID and PW and are signed in you just go to the botf2 Home tab > shared documents > 3d models. There you will see the major race folders and more. Create new subfolders as needed to keep it organized. Us the New pull down for new folders and then the Upload pull down to brows to your 3ds and textures.
It is St. Patrick’s Day so I am guessing he is on a drunk until the bottle runs dry. Hang in there. He will be back.

Until you get a username and password, you cannot upload ANYTHING to the site - which is down at the moment by the way, so that might be why you haven't had the email yet.
To multiple upload files, click on the button to upload a file, then just below the box where you specify what file to upload, will be another link to upload multiple files.
I see the link, but it disappears after a split econd. If I manage to click it fast enough, I just get taken to a screen with a red x image problem. As long as you have Office 2007 though, it *should* work for you. Mike says that office 2003 also has some sharepoint compatibility, so that may also allow you to upload multiple files.
Think of me when you sail through your uploads...

Do any of the games need 2d 270x225.png images of minor race ships?

can't hurt kenneth
don't know if there are already sites with good pictures of minor race ships but they will be in-game eventually and then it'd be good to have a picture shown at the fleet list on-screen, so I'd take some
I was recently thinkin about having some small in-game fly-by videos of some modelled ships, let's say as a short film sequence after battle or something like that. would be a nice thing if someone picks this idea up and sees what's in it.

Yes, images of minor races ships are needed. The empire ships are a higher priority, though.

Yes my captain. I can wrap up those Gorn ships later and turn my attention to the Majors for now.
I am gearing down on the audio monolog recordings, doing some real work to support by habits (like eating and putting kids through collage) and then getting back to the ships.
Shields are down to 80 per cent. -- But we were still here last time I checked.
