It may be scary, but I think it's the boy that is the scary one. He shot the poor creature! That kid needs to be taught a lesson, and where did he get the gun from? What idiot lets a kid play with guns?

come on matress! He was LEGALLY hunting! He had the gun because he was licensed to carry it, and he was supervised by his parents and multiple guides.
He was taught his lessons - he went through Hunter Safety courses and training. I'm legally considered a kid, and I've gone to the shooting range many times. and it's not a 'poor creature' _________________ Hello! |

It is that whole right to bare arms thing in the US constitution. I have seen some really large hogs like that dressed up like people and shopping a WalMart. I wished I was packing just for self defense. BTW Where I live it is legal to carry a gun as long as it is not counseled. This does not extend to juveniles so stay in the toy section of the store if you want to be safe.

You forget i'm from the UK. We've banned guns over here - i've literally never seen a real gun with my own eyes (Ignoring TV of course) and that's the way I think it should be. Oh, and we banned hunting here too.

Their tusks are extremely sharp, and though they dont look it they can move FAST. Boars are extremely dangerous around populated areas, they tend to attack for no reason, and get quite large. However, I partially agree sport hunting is not right, in some instances it is used to control an ecosystem that we(as in the human race) have sufficiently ruined. And WTF ... all of you(myself included) are working on/supporting games that strive to do just that. pit empire on empire in a struggle for the galaxy!!! ... its the same concept, just on a bigger scale(only difference is the games are fake). |

wow.. big pig. Personally i'm against hunting for sport. It should be done to contain populations and be done by parkrangers and such.

Im against hunting full stop. Think it's inhuman and the only time its necessary is for self defense.
However i do find it hypocritical for me to say this, when i'm not a vegetarian! lol Love meat too much to give it up!  _________________ I never appolgise. Im sorry thats just the way I am. |

Yes we are a part of nature, and thus we can destroy it or make it better. For the beaver example.. there is a big difference with beavers creating a dam or if humans do. Beavers improve there surroundings and the environment, they are thus improving nature. I doubt that this is the case with manmade dams.

A butcher near where I live sells boar meat though.
Some boar escaped from a speciality farm near where I live a few years ago. It's happened in a few places in the UK actually - and now they're breeding like rabbits! There is supposedly about 1000 of the animals now - which is pretty good, considering they were hunted to extinction here over 400 years ago! 8O Some of the boar are now being captured and killed for food - but there is an obvious premium price tag for the meat, and they can't be killed for sport. There is a debate going on about possibly culling them for safety reasons, however. It's kinda funny really, coz now it's like they are trying to get revenge.
