In the opening shot of "Charlie X," Captain Kirk's log states that the Enterprise is "now maneuvering to come alongside cargo vessel Antares." The original shot only shows us the Enterprise,

but the remastered version adds the Antares NCC-501 to be consistent with the narration.

The Antares is said to be similar in size and configuration to another cargo ship, the Woden,

but with warp nacelles and a deeper mid-dorsal compartment.

OMG! Total nerd food!
I *LOVE* the dy-100 shot! *That's* what specularity maps are for!
Guilty pleasures: at once enjoying the laps into complete nerddom yet feeling exceedingly self-conscious about it... literally looking over my shoulder to make sure my colleagues aren't looking. Closet nerd... HA! As if! I couldn't hide it if I wanted. :)
The Antares design, if I'm not mistaken, comes from TAS.

Edit: And notice the bump maps too! Take a good look at these renders and you can tell a lot about what can be done with spec, bump, vector maps, etc. DY-100 especially. Very cool!

We have progressed far enough into nerddom now that we can sponsor our own official BOTF2 line of inaction figures. (insert image of plastic figure sitting at PC and eating cheese puffs at 2 AM.)
