So we need five major races. I see Boxes, Robokittens, Killer Clowns and the Bush Whitehorse. Where is the fifth? Ah, all those running for President. You would have to be both stupid and insane to want the job.
I wonder though. If we get a C and D letter could we bargain it into a take over the project offer? We end up working for a game company in my wildest dreams. My dreamstate:

Just so you guys know, I've been tossing around the idea of dropping the Star Trek theme from Supremacy and going with original content. For now, let's call such a hypothetical game Galactic Supremacy 2. Such a move would serve two purposes. First, it would eliminate the giant "CBS/Paramount" cloud of doom that has been perpetually hanging over the project. Second, it would make it much easier to recruit additional developers if I didn't have to keep the game "lurking in the shadows". Very few developers would want to invest a lot of time into a project that could be shut down on a whim by the Star Trek IP holders.
The important thing to keep in mind is that the game would still be highly moddable, and there would almost certainly be a rather elaborate Star Trek total conversion bearing a suspicious resemblance to the vision of BotF2 (but completely unsanctioned and independent of the main game, of course ). I think you get where I'm going with this.
Anyway, this is just an idea I'm tossing around, but I figured I'd mention it so that nobody would be caught completely off-guard in the event that I go through with it.

we'd need 1) a new board style 2) probably a new domain-name (not botfii but GalSupii 9 and 3) a means to restrict downloads to a certain group or registered users.
anyway the latter is wanted anyway by sir p. as far as I know since right now, bote can be downloaded from this site and easily "direct-linked" by everybody around the net. A little more restrictions help contain and bound download numbers and responsibilities just in case..
so, nem or jig, can you modify the board here such that it behaves like the main afc site in terms of downloads? would be fine if you take a look into it when you got some free time

Dumping the Star Trek theme would rule out around 95 per cent of our ship models. It would be best not to waste time working on a 3D combat feature in games without the ST theme. Much of the interest is based on the ST Theme.

Did you read the second paragraph of my post, Ken? I sent you a PM for clarification.

thx!
btw. so much for them not knowing about us (assuming their moderators who apparently read all the forum posts have any connection to the other parts of the company and actually followed the link): http://startrek.bethsoft.com/forums/index.php?s=168b9d9db28ede46aaa8f9a4608011ff&showtopic=9189&st=20 (scroll down a bit)

The forum moderators probably aren't concerned about stuff like that. The only people that would be are the marketing and legal department people. I doubt the moderators would feel compelled to report anything of that nature or even give it a second thought.

Do not get me wrong. Anything that will
help the development of the underlying
programming and servival of the games
is good. That includes versions of games
that are non Star Trek.
Models are my interest for now but that is
secondary to the game projects as a whole.
With more games and more members of the
collective our unimatrix owns the galaxy.
Only through the further acquisition of life forms
and code can we attain perfection.

As long as what hopefully was discussed for BOTF2 can still be implemented it shouldn't be to big a problem.

Regards Wolfe I would still adhere to basic mechanics outlined in the the BotF2 specification, so really it would be the same game but without Trek content. That could easily be rectified by means of a total conversion mod, which would essentially transform GalSup2 into BotF2 (the current vision of Supremacy). However, this would mean that more work would need to be done by the community in order to keep the BotF2 content up to date with the GalSup2 feature set, as the BotF2 mod project would become a secondary priority to the primary game project (at least until the latter is completed).

So again we have the Evil Lego Unimatrix, the Robo - Kitty Consortium, the Kill Clown Empire and the Brown Past Board Box Union. Any suggestions for empire number five? We can make this work. Some fan might think to make a ST mod for it once the real game was up and running.

Bloody hell 9 new members! There definitely was an upsurge yesterday! Fingers crossed they aren't from Bethesda...unless they signed up so they can help in secret...
...
Let's add salt to the wound and call the fifth Empire the Microdollar Lawyer Empire.

The lawyers would be better cast like the Borg if it was a ST game. There you are playing your game with robokittens, clowns and Lego when all of a sudden....

lol, damn lurkers, downloading our games and not even bothering to post feedback. It's not like I'm getting paid for this, so the least they could do is feed my ego .

40, nice number.
infact one has to make a screenshot and put it up in the news section to tell ppl. how things should proceed from now on..
ah, one more thing that I just saw with our new Crewman1701 here. He was looking at the old gavin botf2 screenshots at the gallery and then moved over to the downloads probably not finding what he wanted to search for so maybe someone could mark those images as old (beside the obvious date attached ) or even replace them with supremacy and bote screenshots?
I mean not that it is that important to the overall effort, but it just makes things a little more straight, cleaner and less confusing for newbs in here .
